AB  - 15 symmetric 1-methyl-2,6-bis[2-(substituted phenyl)ethenyl]pyridinium iodides were synthesized in this work. Their structures were characterized using IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. DFT calculations indicated that s-trans/s-trans conformation prevail in all compounds. The effects of specific and non-specific solvent-solute interactions on the UV-Vis absorption maxima shifts were evaluated using linear solvation-free energy relationships (LSER), i.e., Kamlet-Taft and Catalan models. A linear free energy relationship (LFER) in the form of single substituent parameter equations (SSP) was used to postulate quantitative structure-property relations of substituent effect on NMR data. TD-DFT results showed dependence of electronic transition on the substituent effects. The push-pull character of these compounds was analyzed by differences in C-13 chemical shift of the ethylenic double bond in 2- and 6-positions of cross-conjugated with pyridinum central ring. Also, the quotient of the occupations for the bonding pi and anti-bonding pi* orbitals of this bond was considered. Good correlations of the selected parameter between double bond lengths with pi*/pi and C-13 chemical shift differences of the bridging group proved them to be adequate descriptor of push-pull character. Synthesized compounds were screened for the antioxidant activity, using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical methods, and results demonstrated moderate antioxidant potential.

AB  - In the process of refining raw materials and metal production in the metallurgical industry and mining are allocated a number of different secondary materials to be deposited. In the enrichment of the ore by flotation, in addition to metals concentrate, flotation tailings are allocated, which is stored in permanent landfill. When solving the problems of processing of deposited material, landfill rehabilitation and revitalization of the affected land should be accounted more related effects in defining the feasibility of investment projects.
AB  - U procesima prerade sirovina i proizvodnje metala izdvaja se više različitih materijala koji se deponuju. Pri obogaćivanju ruda u flotacijama, pored koncentrata metala, izdvaja se i otpadna flotaciona jalovina koja se skladišti na trajne deponije. Pri rešavanju problematike prerade deponovanih materijala, saniranja deponija i revitalizacije zemljišta trebalo bi obračunati i više pratećih efekata pri definisanju opravdanosti investicionih radova.

Landfills on the banks of Timok from Zaječar to the mouth of Danube

AB  - Timok is created by merging the Black and White (Knjaževac) Timok in Zaječar, and then, after a course of about 85 km, flows into the Danube. Timok flows besides several small settlements, it has more meanders, and at last 15 km is a border river between Serbia and Bulgaria. Zaječar has about 50.000 inhabitants, while in other settlements around the Timok live about 20.000 inhabitants. City landfill of municipal waste in Zaječar is located on the banks of the river Timok, near the place Halovo, about 11 km downstream of Zaječar. This is the biggest landfill on the banks of Timok. There are around ten smaller registered landfills, but also there are several wild, unregistered landfills next to the smaller rural settlements. Industrial waste is incomplete, inadequate processed in Zaječar, as in whole Serbia. Most of the industrial waste from companies in Zaječar is stored on Halovo landfill, since this waste is mixed and transported together with municipal waste. The plan for Halovo is to become a regional landfill for six neighboring municipalities and the process is ongoing. Water level of the river Timok depends much on the climate change, pollution of its waters must be prevented and their quality is continuously controlled, since it belongs to the international, Danube basin. On coastal of Timok there are more mini-livestock farms which also have negative influence on water quality of Timok. Borska and Sikolska rivers are the largest tributaries of Timok and their waters also affect water quality of Timok. The obligation of modern society and one of the strategic and development activities in Serbia is regulation of banks and coastal areas, waste management and construction of sanitary landfills.
AB  - Timok nastaje spajanjem Crnog i Belog (Knjaževačkog) Timoka u Zaječaru, a zatim, posle toka od oko 85 km, uliva se u Dunav. Timok protiče pored nekoliko manjih naselja, ima više meandara, a poslednjih 15 km granična je reka između Srbije i Bugarske. Grad Zaječar ima oko 50.000 stanovnika, a u ostalim naseljima oko Timoka živi još oko 20.000 stanovnika. Gradska deponija komunalnog otpada Zaječara nalazi se na obali reke Timok, kod mesta Halovo, na oko 11 km nizvodno od Zaječara. Ovo je najveća deponija na obalama Timoka. Ima još desetak manjih, registrovanih deponija, ali i više divljih, neregistrovanih deponija pored manjih seoskih naselja. Industrijski otpad se nepotpuno, nedovoljno prerađuje u Zaječaru, kao i u celoj Srbiji. Na deponiji Halovo skladišti se veliki deo industrijskog otpada preduzeća iz Zaječara, jer se ovaj otpad meša i otprema sa komunalnim otpadom. Planirano je da deponija u Halovu postane regionalna deponija za šest susednih opština i ovaj proces je u toku. Vodostaj reke Timok mnogo zavisi od klimatskih promena, a zagađivanje njegovih voda mora se sprečiti i njihov kvalitet kontinualno kontrolisati, s obzirom da reka Timok pripada međunarodnom, Dunavskom slivu. Na priobalju Timoka ima i više mini stočarskih farmi koje, takođe, mogu ugroziti kvalitet voda Timoka. Borska i Sikolska reka najveće su pritoke Timoka i njihove vode takođe utiču na kvalitet voda Timoka. Uređenje obala i priobalja, upravljanje otpadom i izgradnja sanitarnih deponija obaveza je savremenog društva i jedna od strategijsko-razvojnih delatnosti u Srbiji.

AB  - Single crystal samples of PbTe doped with Hg were grown using the Bridgman method. Far infrared reflectivity spectra were measured at room temperature for samples with 0.5 at. % Hg; 0.9 at. % Hg and 1.4 at. % Hg. The plasma frequency decreased when PbTe was doped with Hg and it was lowest for the PbTe sample doped with 0.5 at. % Hg. The values of the determined optical free carrier mobility increased and was the highest for PbTe doped with 0.5 at. % Hg.

AB  - A synthesis of porous poly(methylmetacrylate) in suspension has been done in this paper. Ethylene glycol dimethacrylate has been used as a crosslinker poly(vinyl-pyrrolidone) as a protective colloid, and a benzoyl peroxide as an initiator. The synthesized polymer has been investigated by Carlo Erba 2000 to determine it's porosity, specific surface and pore size distribution. These parameters depend on concentrations of crosslinkers and the inert pores-making agent ethyl acetate. The porosity of poly(methylmetacrylate) increases proportionally with ethyl acetate concentration in the reaction mixture, reaching the maximum value of 0.614 cm3/g (corresponding to the maximum ethyl acetate concentration). Pore size distribution points the pores with diameters between 1 - 5 μm and specific surface of 17.187 m2/g as the most abundant ones. The synthesized polymers have been used for polymer–analog reactions, converting methyl-ester groups into acyl-hydrazine ones and these into acyl-azide groups. These reactions served as a tool to immobilize enzyme amylase. So, the porous poly(methylmetacrylate) has been used as the enzyme's inert support.
AB  - U ovom radu je izvršena sinteza poroznog poli(metilmetakrilata) u suspenziji pri čemu je etilenglikol dimetakrilat iskorišćen kao umreživač poli(vinilpirolidon) kao zaštitni koloid, a benzoil peroksid kao inicijator. Dobijenom polimeru je na uređaju Carlo Erba 2000 određena poroznost specifična površina i raspodela veličina pora. Ove veličine zavise od koncentracije umreživača i koncentracije inertne komponente za stvaranje pora - etilacetata. Poroznost poli(metilmetakrilata) se uvećava sa povećanjem koncentracije etilacetata u reakcionoj smeši i za najveću koncentraciju dostiže 0,614 cm3/g. Raspodela veličina pora pokazuje da su najzastupljenije pore prečnika 0,1 do 5 μm, a specifična površina dostiže 17,187 m2/g. Na dobijenom polimeru izvedene su polimer-analogne reakcije kojima su metilestarske grupe prevedene u acil-hidrazinske, a ove u acil-azidne grupe. Preko njih je imobilisan enzim amilaza, tako da je ovaj porozni poli(metilmetakrilat) iskorišćen kao inertni nosač enzima.

AB  - The characteristics of two types of porous polymers: poly(methyl methacrylate) and copolymers of methyl methacrylate and acrylamide were investigated in this study. Poly(methyl methacrylate) was synthesized in suspension, using ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the cross-linking agent, poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) as the protective colloid, and benzoyl peroxide as the initiator. The synthesis of poly(methyl methacrylate-co-acrylamide) was initiated in emulsion in the presence of dioctyl sulfosuccinate sodium salt, followed by a sol-gel process, and completely reacted to the solid state. Potassium persulfate was used as the initiator, and tetramethylol glycoluril as the cross-linking agent. Both types of syntheses were carried out in the presence of ethyl acetate. The porosity, specific surface and distribution of the pore sizes of the obtained polymers were determined by mercury porosimetry. The polymers were used as inert carriers for the immobilization of enzymes and whole cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast.
AB  - U ovom radu su ispitivane karakteristike dve vrste poroznih polimera: poli(metilmetakrilata) i kopolimera metilmetakrilata i akrilamida. Poli(metilmetakrilat) je sintetisan u suspenziji pri čemu je etilenglikol dimetakrilat iskorišćen kao umreživač, poli(vinilpirolidon) kao zaštitni koloid a benzoil peroksid kao inicijator. Sinteza poli(metilmetakrilat-co-akrilamida) je započeta u emulziji u prisustvu natrijum dioktil sulfosukcinata, nastavljena sol-gel procesom i završila u čvrstom stanju. Kao inicijator je korišćen kalijum persulfat, a tetrametilol glikoluril kao umreživač. Obe vrste sinteze su vođene u prisustvu etil acetata. Dobijenim polimerima je određena poroznost, specifična površina i raspodela veličina pora pomoću živine porozimetrije. Iskorišćeni su kao inertni nosači za /mobilizaciju enzima i celih ćelija kvasca Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
