Breakthrough Analysis of Chemical Composition and Applied Chemometrics of European Plum Cultivars Grown in Norway

AB  - The aim of this study was to find the chemical parameters for the differentiation of plum cultivars grown along the fjord areas of Western Norway and Eastern Norway, having specific agroclimatic conditions. Chemical analysis of the fruits confirmed the contents of 13 quantified elements, 22 sugar compounds, 11 organic acids, 19 phenolic compounds, and antioxidant activity in 68 plum cultivars. Dominated contents were noted for nitrogen (with the maximum mean value of 3.11%), potassium (8055.80 mg/kg), and phosphorous (7878.88 mg/kg). Averagely, the highest level of sugars was determined for glucose (244.46 g/kg), fructose (197.92 g/kg), sucrose (208.25 g/kg), and sorbitol (98.02 g/kg), organic acids for malic acid (24.06 g/kg), and for polyphenol compounds were 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid (66.31 mg/kg), and rutin (58.06 mg/kg). Applied principal component analysis has been useful for distinguishing the plum cultivars from three areas in Norway where copper, iron, potassium, magnesium, manganese, and sodium; sucrose, ribose, maltose, and raffinose; p-hydroxybenzoic acid, rutin, ferulic acid, kaempferol 7-O-glucoside, p-coumaric acid, and 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid were the most influential. In regard to human health and future breeding work that will have the aim to produce functional food with high health-related compounds, the plum cultivar ‘Mallard’ should be underlined due to the high level of elements, ‘Valor’ due to high sugar content, ‘Helgøyplomme’ due to content of organic acids, and ‘Diamond’ due to the content of phenolic compounds. © 2023 by the authors.

Role of lithological properties on development of badlands in arid regions.

AB  - In this study we compared materials from less investigated badland sites in Turkey and China. Critical composition in badland material is the presence and ratio of the clay and silt size particles, clay mineralogy and presence of mobile ions, especially anions. In analyzed materials the presence of smectite governed the formation of surface crust. Surface cracks enabled ion leaching and became preferential paths from sediment movement. Critical composition in badland material is the presence and ratio of the clay and silt size particles and poor sorting. Sulphate and carbonate ions proved to be crucial for surface processes on these materials. Summarizing results it can be concluded that erodibility of badland lithologies is a combination of clay type, silt content and ion concentration.

AB  - The aim of the study was the comparative analysis of degradation of wheat straw lignin by white-rot fungi and its  implications on the efficiency of enzymatic hydrolysis of holocellulose. Peroxidases were found to be predominantly  responsible for lignin degradation, even though high laccase activities were detected, especially in the initial stages of  fungal culturing. The studied fungal species showed various ability to degrade lignin in wheat straw, which further  affected the release of reducing sugars during enzymatic saccharification. The highest rate of lignin, hemicelluloses and  cellulose degradation was noticed in the sample pretreated with Irpex lacteus. Among all the tested species, only  Ganoderma resinaceum was found as a suitable lignin degrader, with 2-fold higher hydrolysis yield (51.1 ± 4.7%) than  in the control. A key mechanism that enhances convertibility of carbohydrates is the selective lignin removal from biomass. Operating time, holocellulose loss and unpredictable fungal response to culturing conditions are the main  challenges in fungal pretreatment of lignocellulosic feedstock.

AB  - A diversity of factors, led by lithology, weathering, and erosion processes, plays a significant role in the formation and future of badland terrains. Then on previous observations it can be concluded that surface flow processes are the first trigger of erosion and that intense soil erosion combined with rapid and deep weathering are tightly connected to high erosion rates.
Since climate change presents a global issue that gains increasing attention and due to the complexity of the interactions and processes that are a part of general badlands origin and evolution, a weathering experiment on badland sediments from China was conducted. Explaining temporal changes, the impact of different precipitation types and its durations of exposure on sediments during weathering processes, as well as its impact on leachate ions behaviour are the aims behind this experiment.
Red clayey siltstone and mudstone badland sediments selected for the laboratory experiment were organized in four sets that included three different samples, making a total of 12 treated samples. Based on field climate data, in laboratory conditions samples were exposed to rain, acid rain, snow, and acid snow through fifteen daily cycles. Leachate was collected after each cycle and its volume, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and ion concentrations were measured and analysed from the leachate. Changes occurring on the surface of the sample were observed through photographs taken at the end of each cycle.
Based on obtained results it can be said that the main differences occur when comparing rain and snow treatments generally. Temporal, cyclic changes were, to a certain extent, noticed through sediment decay. More importantly, durations of sediment exposure to precipitation proved to be crucial for weathering processes of tested siltstones and mudstones, having exclusion and ionic forces - ion exchange chromatography as dominant chemical processes.

AB  - Climate-Smart Forestry in mountain regions is an approach that can help to realize
potential of the forest sector to contribute to climate change mitigation and to identify
new principles and measures to reap this potential. These new measures and criteria
include identification of key soil characteristics of beech forests in Europe. Total of 80
soil samples from 15 soil profiles were collected from beech forests of Spain, Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina
and Slovenia. Methodology used for soil analyses: electrical conductivity (EC) and pH
(measured by portable meters), content of organic carbon (Corg – elemental analyser),
grain size distribution (pipet analysis), content of major and minor minerals determined
by XRF and ICP-OEC. Also concentrations of anions were determined by ionchromatogarphy.
The average content of organic carbon in tested soils is 2.4%. The
highest concentrations are found in soils on limestones than on granite rocks and lowest
concentrations on soils developed on sandstones. Concentrations of carbonate and
sulphate anions are also highest in limestone soils, while phosphate and nitrate ions
do not show variation with bedrock type. From the obtained results it can be concluded
that the bedrock has strong influence on soil properties. The obtained differences are
reflected in the depth of soil profiles, structure of aggregates and physico-chemical
composition. The results of this study will help in the definition of climate-smart forestry
and identification of “smartness” criteria for the European beech forests.

AB  - Raspberries are considered valuable fruits due to their high levels of nutrients and phytochemicals, which have many beneficial effects on humans. As many external factors affect the composition of these fruits (the type of cultivation, soil characteristics, ripeness, storage time and post-harvest technologies, cultivar/genotype, and climatic conditions), the goal of this study was to analyze different raspberry cultivars grown in Norway. Considering that Norway is a country with specific climatic conditions, as well as has a limited period of fruit vegetation, another important goal of this study was also to compare raspberries from different Norwegian areas, as well as different grown cultivars. Modern analytical techniques, such as high-performance anion-exchange liquid chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection (HPEAC-PAD), ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detector coupled to triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UHPLC-DAD MS/MS), and inductively coupled plasma–optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), provided a detailed examination of the raspberry extract samples. Based on their high levels of minerals (especially N, P, and K), organic acids (predominantly citric and malic acids), sugars (glucose, fructose, sucrose, and galactose), and polyphenols (ellagic acid, syringic acid, quercetin, and rutin), Norwegian raspberries could be considered fruits with increased health-beneficial compounds. The chemical composition of the studied cultivars depended on the locality of growth.

AB  - Using modern analytical techniques, a comprehensive study of the chemical composition of fruits from apple cultivars grown in Western Norway during 2019 and 2020 was done. Metals, sugars, organic acids, antioxidant tests, and polyphenol content have been observed. In all investigated samples, the most dominant sugars were glucose, fructose, and sucrose. Among 11 tested organic acids, the dominant was malic acid, followed by citric and maleic acid. The most common metal was potassium, followed by magnesium and zinc. The quantification of polyphenols showed that among the 11 quantified polyphenols, chlorogenic acid, quercetin 3-O-rhamnoside, quercetin 3-O-glucoside, quercetin, and phlorizin were the most abundant. A detailed study of the polyphenolic profile of nine investigated apple samples provided 30 identified polyphenolic compounds from the class of hydroxybenzoic and hydroxycinnamic acids, flavonoids, and dihydrochalcones. In addition to the identified 3-O-caffeoylquinic acid, its two isomers of 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid and three esters were also found. Present polyphenols of the tested apples provided significant data on the quality of Norwegian apples, and they contribute to the distinguishing of these apple samples.

AB  - Sadržaj limunske kiseline u medu može da pruži informacije za procenu autenticnosti
meda. Me utim, važeci Codexalimentarius kao i Pravilnik o kvalitetu meda ne pružaju
informacije o sadržaju limunske kiseline u medu. Imajuci to u vidu, predmet ovog rada je
razvoj i validacija metode za odre ivanje citrata u medu. Analiza citrata ura ena je
primenom jonske hromatografijesa konduktometrijskom detekcijom na DIONEX AS 15
analitickoj koloni uz upotrebu 30 mM kalijum-hidroksida kao mobilne faze.Validovana
metoda se može primeniti za odre ivanje sadržaja citrata u medu u intervalu 1 – 100 mg/kg
s agranicom detekcije od 0,36 mg/kg igranicomkvantifikacije 1,20 mg/kg.Tacnost metode
je proverena testom obogacenja (95 – 101%), a preciznost ponovljenim analizama u toku
više dana. Metoda je proverena analizom 25 uzoraka bagremovog meda pri cemu je

AB  - The citric acid content can give useful information about honey authenticity. However, Codex Alimentarius and the Serbian regulation do not provide information on the content of citric acid in honey. Hence,the object of this paper is the method development and validation for the determination of citrate content in honey. The concentration of citrate in honey was determined by ion chromatography with conductivity detection on DIONEX AS 15 column and 30 mM potassium-hydroxide as mobile phase. The method validation revealed that method can be used for determination of citrate in acaciahoney from 1 to100 mg/kg. The limit of detection was 0.36 mg/kg and limit of quantification 1.20 mg/kg. AB  - This study aims to determine the palaeoenvironmental characteristics and activity patterns of Obrovac-type archaeological sites in Western Serbia, dated to the Late Neolithic/Early Eneolithic period, ∼5th millennium BC. These mound-like sites, enclosed by a wide ditch, that are not known in other parts of the central Balkan area, have long intrigued archaeologists investigating their origin and function over the last few decades.

In this study, for the first time, organic-geochemical analysis of paleosol samples from the Obrovac-type sites was applied with the aim of palaeoenvironmental reconstruction. Additionally, organic carbon content and anion analysis of 58 subsoil samples from these settlements were performed to determine the use of space and activity zones.

The analysis of biomarkers from selected sites suggests significant plant biodiversity in the Mačva region during the Late Neolithic/Early Eneolithic. Distribution of n-alkanes with the maximum at n-C25 and predominance of C30 hop-22(29)-ene among hopanoids in samples from Obrovac type-sites indisputably indicates that macrophytes are a dominant source of organic matter, implying a marshy and floodplain depositional environment. On the other side, a strong signal of long-chain n-alkanes indicates the input of terrestrial plants into the precursor biomass, confirming that this environment was habitable for the first settlers in this region. Anion-based analysis delineates certain activity zones, demonstrating that Obrovac type-sites manifest rather complex spatial behavior despite their relatively small size and available space.

Determination of lipophilicity and ionization of fentanyl and its 3‑substituted analogs by reversed-phase thin-layer chromatography

AB  - Lipophilicity and ionization constant of sixteen fentanyl analogues were investigated by reversed-phase thin-layer chromatography (RP-TLC). Fourteen compounds have nitrogen containing groups at C-3 position of the piperidine ring and two compounds are 3-carbomethoxy derivatives of fentanyl. Among them, five are diastereomeric cis/trans couples and six novel trans diastereomers. In addition, the lipophilicity and ionization constant of fentanyl were also determined by the same method, as a reference. The physicochemical property, lipophilicity, expressed as retention indices RM0, b, and C0, as well as PC1, was determined and correlated with in silico values. Ionization constants were determined on the basis of the relationships between analyte's retention expressed as RF and mobile phase pH. Calculated structural descriptors together with the retention indices, were subjected to the principal component analysis – PCA and hierarchical cluster analysis – HCA, in order to provide basic insights into the similarities among the studied compounds. The blood – brain barrier (BBB) permeation was investigated in the function of experimentally obtained values of lipophilicity, polar surface area and molecular weight. In general, results of the present research corroborate well with previously determined antinociceptive activities of the investigated compounds, pointing out that besides the cis/trans isomerism, another set of important parameters should be taken into account when designing new derivatives of C-3 substituted fentanyl, especially lipophilicity, voluminosity and HBD/A character of the substituents. Accordingly, RP-TLC can be considered as a valuable asset in the ligand-based drug design.

AB  - Climate variables including temperature, rainfall intensity, rainfall acidity, and lithological properties are among the most important factors affecting rock weathering. However, the relative contribution of these four factors on rock weathering, especially on chemical weathering, is still unclear. In this study, we carried out a series of weathering-leaching rainfall simulations on four types of badland sediments under controlled conditions of two levels of temperature, rainfall intensity, and rainfall acidity based on the real field data from representative weather scenarios. The main objectives are 1) to explore the progressive change of sample surface and leachate characteristics and 2) to reveal the independent effects of temperature, rainfall intensity, rainfall acidity, and lithology and their relative contribution as well, on both mechanical and chemical weathering. Qualitative analysis on crack development and fragmentation of sample surface and quantitative analysis on the leachate volume, pH, electrical conductivity, and total cation and anion releases of sample leachate together demonstrated that for the investigated sediments, under the conditions of temperature, intensity, and acidity of rain that can be achieved in nature, high drying temperature obviously increases mechanical disintegration by promoting the rate and magnitude of moisture variations (wetting–drying alterations), while high rainfall intensity and acid rain have no obvious effect. Impact and importance of the drying process caused by high temperature between wetting events need more attention, rather than high rainfall intensity. Low temperature, high rainfall intensity, and acid rain contributing more hydrogen ions required for cation exchanges, rock type with more soluble minerals, all promote chemical weathering, and the influence of climatic and lithological factors on chemical weathering decreases in the following order: mineral composition> rainfall intensity > temperature > rainfall acidity. Climatic variations on temperature can modify weathering processes and in that way conditioned hydro-geomorphological processes in badland areas. Such changes should be considered for direct and indirect implications on badland dynamics.

AB  - Growing antibiotic resistance creates a need to find new antimicrobial agents characterized by diverse chemical structures and pharmaceutical activity. The higher plants synthesize many specialized metabolites as a part of their normal metabolic activity and have been extensively used for centuries in treatment of different diseases. They have a wide activity range depending on the species, topography and climate, and may have different categories of active principles. In contrast to conventional antimicrobial techniques, planar chromatography in combination with biological detection can be an appropriate method of choice for fast, simple, and low-cost screening of plant extract for successful detection of antimicrobial agents which can be good candidates for lead compounds. To date, all bioautography steps such as chromatographic separation, detection with bacteria cells, incubation, and visualization of bioactive bands were improved and optimized. This review gives an overview of bioautography procedure from extraction to structure elucidation of antimicrobial compounds from plants.

Using a newly established network of plots in beech forests across Europe,the aims of this study were to (i) distinguish soil properties and erodibility indices in relation to bedrock, (ii) determine geochemicalproperties and organic carbon (Corg) influencing erodibility, and (iii) assess the effect of soil depth on erodibilityindices. Seventy-six soil samples from 20 beech forests were collected in 11 countries to quantify soil properties influencingerodibility indices: clay ratio, modified clay ratio, sodium adsorption ratio, and oxides ratio. The results indicate that thedominant soil properties, determined by bedrock, that correlate with forest soil erodibility indices are Corg, pH, electricalconductivity, calcium and sodium ions concentrations, total water-soluble cations, and the percentage of sand. Accordingto the tested indices, soil susceptibility to erosion follows the order granite > andesite > sandstone > quartzite > limestone.Deeper soil horizons on granite are more susceptible to erosion than surface horizons are, but this is not the case forsoils on limestones. In conclusion, forest management should consider the predisposition of different soil types to erosion.

AB  - Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) is a plant worldwide cultivated mainly for essential oils, extracts, and as a spice. Up-to-date results showed diversity in composition of the essential oils, which may influence their quality, biological activity, and thermal properties. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the chemical composition, antimicrobial activity, and thermal properties of the rosemary essential oils originating from Serbia and Russia. Additionally, oils were added to the sunflower oils in order to investigate possible antioxidant activity during the frying. Investigation of the chemical profile marked α-pinene, eucalyptol, and camphor as the most abundant compounds in both oils. However, overall composition influenced in such manner that Russian oil showed significantly higher antimicrobial activity, while Serbian oil proved to be better antioxidant agent in case of frying of sunflower oil. This would significantly influence possible application of the oils, which could be used as an antioxidant agent for extension of the food shelf life, or antimicrobial agent for protection against different microbial strains.

AB  - Honey is a natural sweet product of honeybees widely consumed by people as both a food and
a medicine. It is mainly composed of carbohydrates, primarily fructose and glucose, followed by

polysaccharides and a presence of false positive components such as smaller oligosaccharides
(from 3 to 6 monosaccharide units). However, with the development of high-performance layers
and sophisticated instrumentation, high-performance TLC (HPTLC) should become a method of
choice in determination of honey authenticity.

AB  - Apple production generates large amounts of apple pomace including seeds, leading to high transportation costs, public health hazards and undesirable odor. A new reuse strategy of this kind of waste could solve environmental issues and/or create unconventional sources of health beneficial products. In total, seeds from 75 apple cultivars grown in Norway (both domestic and international) have been analyzed for the first time for oil content and fatty acid profile together with tocopherols and carotenoids quantification in defatted seeds. Seeds from cultivar Håkonseple had the highest oil content (22.10%), with linoleic, oleic acid, and palmitic acid as the most abundant fatty acids. The levels of β-carotene and lycopene carotenoids and α-tocopherol were the highest in defatted seeds of the cultivar Sureple Grøn. Principal component analysis separated cultivars according to the total oil content. The Norwegian apple cultivars Håkonseple, Kviteple, Tolleivseple, Vinterrosenstrips, and Tokheimseple are recommended for obtaining vegetable oil due to their high oil contents, while cultivar Sureple Grøn can be separated due to its high levels of β-carotene, lycopene and total tocopherols.

AB  - This paper presents the chemical composition of the fruits of three European plum cultivars (‘Cacanska Rana’,
‘Cacanska Lepotica’, and ‘Cacanska Najbolja’) grafted on four rootstocks (Myrobalan, ‘Pixy’, ‘Fereley’, and ‘St.
Julien A’). The rootstock/cultivar combinations significantly influenced the content of most of the phenolic
compounds in the plum skin and flesh. The total anthocyanin content in the skin ranged from 1.87 to 7.33 mg
cyanidin-3-glucoside g−1 fresh weight. The major phenolic compound in the skin was rutin, which ranged from
95 to 238 mg kg−1, while in the flesh, cinnamic acid and catechin were dominant. The total sugar content in the
fruit ranged from 66.2–147 mg g−1. The highest glucose and fructose contents were in ‘Cacanska Lepotica’, then
in ‘Cacanska Najbolja’, and the lowest were in ‘Cacanska Rana’ cultivar. The highest contents of glucose and
sucrose were found in fruits from trees grafted on Myrobalan rootstock, and the lowest in fruits from trees
grafted on ‘St. Julien A’ rootstock. The rootstocks significantly influenced the potassium, calcium, and copper
contents in the plum fruit. The results of this study demonstrate the significant effect of rootstocks on the
phenolic and sugar profiles, and on the mineral content of the plum fruits.

AB  - Degradation and detoxification efficiency of high concentrations of commercially available reactive textile dye Reactive Black 5 solution (40, 80, 200, 500, 1000 mg L-1), were studied. Advanced oxidation processes in water falling film based on dielectric barrier discharge in a non-thermal plasma reactor were used. For the first time, this reactor was used for the treatment of high concentrations of organic pollutants such as reactive textile dye Reactive Black 5 in water. Solution of the dye was plasma treated in a thin aqueous solution film that was constantly regenerated. The reactor works as a continuous flow reactor and the electrical discharge itself takes place at the gas-liquid interphase. The dye solution was recirculated through the reactor with an applied energy density of 0-374 kJ L-1. Decolorization efficiency (%) was monitored by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Samples were taken after every recirculation (similar to 22 kJ L-1) and decolorization percentage was measured after 5 min and 24 h post plasma treatment. The efficiency of degradation (i.e., mineralization) and possible degradation products were also monitored by determination of the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and by ion chromatography (IC). Initial toxicity and toxicity of the solutions after the treatment were studied using Artemia salina test organisms. Efficiency of decolorization decreased with the increase of the dye concentration. Complete decolorization, high mineralization and non-toxicity of the solution ( LT 10 %) were acomplished after plasma treatment using energy density of 242 kJ L-1, while the initial concentrations of Reactive Black 5 were 40 and 80 mg L-1.

AB  - Unmodified silica gel in combination with two mobile phases, acetone-n-hexane and acetonitrile-dichloromethane, was used in order to evaluate the capability of normal-phase (NP) chromatography on bare silica gel in estimation of lipophilicity of some polyoxygenated steroids. Soczewinski equation coefficients were employed as a measure of lipophilicity. The R-M(0) values obtained in NP-systems were correlated with those derived by extrapolation from reversed-phase (RP) systems. In addition, retention data, i.e., lipophilicity parameters determined in NP systems were compared with logP values calculated by use of several commercial computer programs. The results showed that chromatographic parameters R-M(0), and m obtained in NP system consisted of silica gel as stationary phase and acetone-n-hexane as mobile phase, are acceptable as the measures of lipophilicity of polyoxygenated steroids. The mechanism of retention was discussed.

AB  - Unmodified silica gel in combination with two mobile phases, acetone-n-hexane and acetonitrile-dichloromethane, was used in order to evaluate the capability of normal-phase (NP) chromatography on bare silica gel in estimation of lipophilicity of some polyoxygenated steroids. Soczewinski equation coefficients were employed as a measure of lipophilicity. The R-M(0) values obtained in NP-systems were correlated with those derived by extrapolation from reversed-phase (RP) systems. In addition, retention data, i.e., lipophilicity parameters determined in NP systems were compared with logP values calculated by use of several commercial computer programs. The results showed that chromatographic parameters R-M(0), and m obtained in NP system consisted of silica gel as stationary phase and acetone-n-hexane as mobile phase, are acceptable as the measures of lipophilicity of polyoxygenated steroids. The mechanism of retention was discussed.

AB  - Experimental results of non-thermal plasma (NTP) utilization for degradation of 4-chlorphenol (4CP) with screening of toxicity were presented in this study. Degradation of 4CP was tested in the presence of homogeneous catalysts: hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and iron (II) (Fe2+). The rate of degradation through eight consecutive passes of the 4CP solution in the NTP reactor was considered. Products of degradation as organic acids (acetic, formic or oxalic acid) and chloride were quantified using ion chromatography (IC). Anemia salina was used for the toxicity screening assay in order to estimate the potential and consequences of NTP reactor application in water treatment. The measured concentration of 4CP and degradation products confirmed very efficient removal of these substances from the water during the NTP treatment with the addition of a catalyst. Concerning bioassay, a significant difference in toxicity was determined between initial solution of 4CP in comparison with the solution exposed to catalytic NTP treatment.

Decolorization of Reactive Black 5 using a dielectric barrier discharge in the presence of inorganic salts

AB  - Inorganic salts improve the coloration of textiles, which increases the pollution load of dye-house effluent in general. Decolorization of the reactive textile dye C.I. Reactive Black 5 was studied using Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) in a non-thermal plasma reactor, based on the coaxial water falling film Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD). The initial dye concentration in the solution was 40.0 mg L-1. The effects of the addition of different high concentrations of inorganic salt (NaCl, Na2SO4 and Na2CO3) on the degree of decolorization were studied. The dye solution was recirculated through the DBD reactor with an applied energy density of 45.0-315 kJ L-1. The influence of residence time was investigated after 5 min and 24 h of plasma treatment. Decolorization of the dye was monitored spectrophotometrically. The pH value and the conductivity of the dye solution were measured after each recirculation. The most effective decolorization of over 90 % was obtained with the addition of NaCl (50 g L-1) with an applied energy density of 135 kJ L-1 and after a residence time of 24 h of plasma treatment. Decolorization of the solutions containing inorganic salts Na2SO4 and Na2CO3 were lower than for the solution without salt.
AB  - Neorganske soli poboljšavaju bojenje tekstila. Povećana koncentracija soli u otpadnoj vodi koja potiče iz tekstilne industrije dodatno opterećuje otpadnu vodu u celini. U okviru ovog rada proučavano je obezbojavanje reaktivne tekstilne boje reaktivno crno 5 koristeći unapređeni oksidacioni proces (AOP) pomoću koaksijalnog reaktora na bazi netermičke plazme. Reaktor radi na principu dielektričnog barijernog pražnjenja (DBD), pri čemu je jedan sloj dielektrika tanak sloj tretirane vode koji se konstantno obnavlja (protočni tip reaktora). Početna koncentracija boje u tretiranom rastvoru je bila 40,0 mg L-1. Proučavan je uticaj različitih visokih koncentracija neorganskih soli (NaCl, Na2SO4 i Na2CO3) na stepen obezbojenja. AB  - Four lipophilicity descriptors (R-M(0), b, C-0 and PCl) for twelve coumarin derivatives were determined by reversed-phase thin-layer chromatography in order to analyze the descriptor which best describes the lipophilicity of the investigated coumarins. Moreover, possible chemical toxicity of coumarins, expressed as the probability of a compound to cause organ-specific health effects, was calculated using ACD/Tox Suite program. The quantitative relationships between toxicity and molecular descriptors, including experimentally determined lipophilicity descriptors obtained in current study were investigated using partial least square regression. The best models were obtained for kidney and liver health effects. Quantitative structure-toxicity relationship models revealed the importance of electric polarization descriptors, size descriptors and lipophilicity descriptors. The obtained models were used for the selection of the structural features of the compounds that are significantly affecting their absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity.
AB  - Primenom reverzno-fazne tankoslojne hromatografije na dvanaest derivata kumarina određena su četiri parametara lipofilnosti (RM0, b, C0 i PC1). Korelacijom dobijenih rezultata sa izračunatim log P vrednostima utvrđen je deskriptor koji na najbolji način opisuje lipofilnost ispitivanih kumarina. Pored toga izračunata je moguća hemijska toksičnost kumarina, izražena kao verovatnoća uticaja pomenutih jedinjenja na specifične organe (krv, kardiovaskularni sistem, gastrointestinalni sistem, bubrege, jetru i pluća) a koja je izračunata primenom ACD/Tox Suite programa. Dobijene vrednosti toksičnosti korelisane su sa molekulskim deskriptorima i eksperimentalno određenim parametrima lipofilnosti, primenom metode parcijalne regresije najmanjih kvadrata (partial least square regression). Uzimajući u obzir parametre koji opisuju kvalitet modela zavisnosti strukture i toksičnosti, utvrđeno je da su najbolji modeli dobijeni za uticaj kumarina na bubrege i jetru. Svi dobijeni modeli ukazuju na značaj električno polarizacionih deskriptora, kao i deskriptora koji opisuju veličinu i lipofilnost jedinjenja, a upotrebljeni su za utvrđivanje strukturnih karakteristika koje značajno utiču na njihovu apsorpciju, distribuciju, metabolizam, izlučivanje i toksičnost.
