The political philosophy of antiquity, viewed from a number of perspectives, from sources of Roman law to works of art and discussions of great thinkers about them, is the basic field for exploring the notion of social ataraxia. The methodological superstructure whose source is the intangible cultural heritage was inspired by Wystan Hugh Auden's lecture on the Shakespearean tragedy of Julius Caesar, held on January 15, 1947 at the New School for Social Research, New York. Looking at the works of Shakespeare and Auden as intangible cultural heritage, in this paper we examine possible heritological approaches in an effort to determine the significance of these works in illuminating the phenomenon of social ataraxia.
