Smectite rich clay from Bogovina (Serbia) was used for the synthesis of a series of Al,Fe-pillared clays (PILCs) with different Fe3+ content. The obtained PILCs were characterized and tested in the catalytic wet peroxide oxidation (CWPO) of food dye tartrazine chosen as a model compound. The influence of Fe content of the catalysts and temperature on the efficiency of the CWPO removal of tartrazine from its aqueous solutions was investigated.
