dc.description.abstractCavitation erosion behavior of engineering materials is very important for various applications, such are industrial/military/power station equipment and parts, such as pump impellers, delicately balanced high-speed propellers and turbine blades. Cavitation erosion could cause pits and fractures, which usually lead to potential risk of failure, as well as potential injury for workers and others; loss of revenue, due to equipment downtime and the extra costs of failure analysis, repair and replacement of parts. In this paper cavitation erosion of different engineering materials will be investigated. Selected materials are: metals (austenitic stainless steel 316L and CuAlNi shape memory sample), ceramics (cordierite) and polymer composite (epoxycarbon composite). Cavitation erosion behavior of selected samples will be compared using mass loss results and image analysis results applied on pits (damage) analysis in order to calculate damage level.sr
