The focus of this study was to determine influence of microbial surfactants rhamnolipids on mobilization of heavy metals from the tailings and to estimate the use of rhamnolipids, as washing agents in pretreatment of metal contaminated substrates as preparation step before application of biohydrometallurgy for controlled leaching of tailings and waste rock.
