dc.description.abstractMany authors have dealt with the formation of the complexes of 1,4-benzenediol and some metals in concentrated sulphuric acid. However, no data can be found in the literature either on the reaction of 1,4-benzenediol with concentrated sulphuric acid or on the possible effect of such a reaction on the composition of the complex compound formed. In order to be able to discuss this problem in more detail we decided to investigate the behaviour of the following systems: concentrated sulphuric acid 1,4-benzenediol and concentrated sulphuric acld-hydroxybenzene. Investigations were carried out by measuring conductivity and viscosity of 1,4-benzenediol and hydroxybenzene solutions in concentrated sulphuric acid.sr
