Apstrakt
Selenium (Se) is an essential trace elements for animals and humans, but not for plants. The quantity of Se in food and feed is strongly dependent on the concentration in plants, that is the main source of selenium, for humans and animals. The uneven distribution and availability of soils Se imply that different areas of the world are characterized, from the point of human and animal nutrition, as Se-deficient, Se-adequate or Se-toxic areas.
