The reaction of solutions of tetraalkyl ethylenediamine-N,N,N′, N′-tetraacetate esters (alkyl = Me, 1a; Et, 1b) with H 2[PdCl4] led to the complexes [PdCl2(R 4EDTA)] (R = Me, 2a; Et, 2b). The coordination of R4EDTA ligands to palladium(II) ions occurs through the two nitrogen donor atoms, as confirmed by IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopies and X-ray crystallography.
