Abstract
Based on the results of geological-geophysical surveys and structural drillings, the promising area was allocated, in terms of geothermal energy, which is important for the development of tourism (spas), industrial and agricultural facilities in rural villages in Vojvodina. The exploration area includes the Southern edge of the Pannonian Basin. Small thickness of the earth's crust-lithosphere places the Pannonian basin (respectively the region of Vojvodina), among the most promising geothermal areas in Europe. The use of renewable energy sources - geothermal energy is of the importantance, regarding to the reduction in reserve of fossil fuels and the impact of emissions on the global warming. In spatial planning research results were applied in the development of geothermal energy Vojvodina tourism (spas), industrial buildings and its use in rural areas. Among the main factors which are affecting the formal assessment of the potential for geothermal energy are low competitive prices of... fossil fuels, inadequate legislation and a lack of finance. This paper presents the main aspects of geothermal energy utilization in Vojvodina.
