AB - Mefenamic acid and indomethacin, medicaments belonging to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, were determined separately and simultaneously at anodically prepared BDDE. Differential pulse voltammetry was used to establish simple and fast analytical procedure based on electrooxidation of mefenamic acid at 0.6 V and indomethacin at 1.0 V (and 1.1 V). At optimal conditions, it was suitable for highly sensitive and selective determination of these compounds with LODs comparable to previously reported modified electrodes. Additionally, considering the importance of these compounds, we proposed precise and accurate quantification of these species based on green and simple pre-treatable electrochemical sensor. The effect of interfering agents (tablet ingredients and vitamins) was appeared to be negligibly confirming a favourable selectivity of the method. The proposed method was analytically applied by simultaneously determining mefenamic acid and indomethacin in pharmaceutical formulations.

AB - The consequence of drastic reduction in fossil fuel reserves has forced the
scientific community to find and develop new ways to exploit renewable resources and
optimize the process of polymer materials production. The aim is to obtain applicable
polymer whose complete life cycle is set in ecological framework. Poly(lactide) (PLA)
meets these requirements as biodegradable polyester whose monomer is derived from the
plant feedstock containing carbohydrates. PLA could be prepared using the different
synthesis routes, but from the point of energy saving, as well as environmental protection,
the microwave synthesis of PLA is the best solution. In this work, poly(L-lactide) were
synthesized in microwave reactor. Reaction time was varied, while the other parameters of
the synthesis were constant. The structures of obtained polymers were confirmed by Fourier
– transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). For determination of molar masses of poly(Llactide) samples, the gel permeation chromatography (GPC) was applied. Thermal
properties were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

AB - In this work, for the first time, we proposed electrochemical behavior and development of analytical procedure for quantification of pesticide azamethiphos, using boron doped diamond (BDD) electrode. It was found that azamethiphos electrochemical behavior is irreversible oxidation at potential of around 1.70 V, in 1M nitric acid. Square wave voltammetric technique was most appropriate for azamethiphos quantification. Under optimized experimental conditions linear working range from 2 to 100 pM was estimated with detection limit of 1.38 pM. Negligible effect of possible interfering compound was observed. Obtained results clearly show that developed analytical methodology can be adequate replacement for the, up to date, used methods for detection of organophosphorous pesticide.

Electrochemical behavior of clomazone's at boron-doped diamond electrode is characterized with irreversible oxidation at potential of around 1.6 V, in Britton-Robinson buffer solution at pH 2. It was found that potential of this oxidation was not pH dependent excluding presence of proton in the electrochemical reaction. Obtained parameters, detection limit of 0.21 mu M and working linear range from 1 to 100 mu M and satisfied selectivity can indicate that presented results open new field in research of this group of pesticides and offer possible replacement to the sophisticated and expensive chromatographic methods.

AB - This work present a new approach for the detection of relatively new herbicide pethoxamid (POA), a first electrochemical behavior and determination based on its oxidation on boron-doped diamond electrode in Britton-Robinson buffer solution at pH 4. Square wave voltammetric technique was used for quantification of POA at anodic potential of 1.35 V vs reference Ag/AgCl electrode. The proposed electroanalytical method is operational in the linear working range from 3 to 100 mu M of POA with a limit of detection of 1.37 mu M. The developed analytical procedure was successfully tested for determination of this herbicide in standard/spiked river water samples and commercial herbicide Successor T SE/spiked river water samples, offering a simple, fast and inexpensive alternative way of pesticide determining to chromatographic methods employed for this purpose.

AB - Bentazone (BZ) is selective contact-past herbicide with suspected reproductive toxicity potential for human due to possible contamination of ground and surface waters. This work presents simple, rapid, sensitive and accurate determination of bentazone at unmodified boron-doped diamond electrode, using differential pulse voltammetry in Britton-Robinson buffer (pH 4, oxidation peak at 1.0 V). Under optimized DPV conditions linear calibration curve was obtained for range of 2 to 100 mu M, with a detection limit of 0.5 mu M. The effect of possible interfering agents is negligible, confirming good selectivity of the method. The method was successfully applied to determination of bentazone in spiked river water samples. This electrochemical determination of bentazone represents a favorable alternative to other used time-consuming and expensive analytical techniques and procedures.

AB - The world is faced with the consequences of drastic reduction in fossil fuel reserves, because of their widespread use, not only as an energy source, but also as a feedstock for monomers obtaining. In order to solve this problem, the scientific community has focused on finding the new ways to exploit renewable resources and optimize the process of polymer materials production. The aim is to obtain applicable polymer whose complete life cycle is put in ecological framework. Poly(lactide) (PLA) meets these requirements as biodegradable polyester whose monomer is derived from plant feedstock containing carbohydrates. Different methods can be applied for PLA synthesis, but from the point of energy saving, as well as environmental protection, the microwave synthesis of PLA is the best solution. The use of microwaves enables homogenous heating of reaction mixture, lower consumption of organic solvent and drastic reduction in polymerization time, obtaining, in the same time, high molecular weight polymers.

AB - The complexation reactions between octaazamacrocyclic ligand N,N',N '',N'"-tetrakis(2-pyridylmethyl)-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (tpmc) and Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+ and Cu2+ metal cations have been studied conductometrically in acetonitrile and aqueous solutions. The conductance data exhibit different stoichiometry of the complexes in two studied solutions. In most cases 1:1 (ML) complexes were formed while in some cases 2:1 (M2L) complexes are evident. The stability constants of the resulting 1:1 complexes were determined by computer fitting of the conductance/mole ratio data. Theoretical DFT calculations were used to explain metal binding capability of tpmc ligand and the binding sequences were found to follow the order: Cu2+ >> Ni2+ > Co2+ > Zn2+. The combination of results obtained by this theoretical approach and conductometric study successfully explains sensitivity and selectivity of recently developed tpmc based ISE and could play a guiding role in planning experiments with large macrocyclic ligands.

AB - Lately, there has been great attention paid to the research of bonded hybrid composites with improved dynamic mechanical capacities capable of replacing bonded Nd-Fe-B magnetic materials, by using cheaper (ferrite) materials instead of the Nd-Fe-B powder while retaining the satisfying values of the maximum magnetic energy. The objective of this study is to assess how different contents of Nd-Fe-B and/or barium ferrite particles can affect morphological, dynamic mechanical and magnetic properties of bonded composite materials. The interactions between employed magnetic powders and the interactions between magnetic powders and polymer binder are considered. For the examination of the magnetic behaviour, a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) is used. Different shapes and sizes of the obtained hysteresis loops are used for comparison and prediction of the polymer bonded materials properties. The homogeneous distribution of the magnetic particles in the polymer matrix is validated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The elastic and damping behavior examined by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) show improved properties for hybrid composite materials.
AB - Istraživački trend u oblasti polimerom vezanih (bonded) Nd-Fe-B magnetnih materijala se reflektuje kroz razvoj bonded hibridnih kompozita sa poboljšanim dinamičko-mehaničkim svojstvima i primetno nižoj ceni zbog zamene skupe Nd- Fe-B legure jeftinijim magnetnim materijalima (ferit) uz postizanje zadovoljavajućih vrednosti maksimalne magnetne energije.

AB - An all solid-state Ag(I) ion-selective electrode has been prepared by simply immersing a glassy carbon rod coated with PVCAc, which contained plasticizer and additive but no ionophore, into the AgNO3 solution. The response of the electrode was linear with a Nernstian slope of 60.25 mV/decade within the concentration range from 1 x 10(-1) to 1 x 10(-5) M and with a detection limit of 4.25 x 10(-6)M. The stability as an effect of various cations was defined. The electrode is suitable for use in high acidic solutions (pH LT 1 to 7) and has successfully been applied for the determination of silver(I) concentrations in different samples.
