TEM and FESEM investigation of lanthanum nickelate thin films obtained by chemical solution deposition

AB  - Lanthanum nickelate (LNO) is a perovskite oxide material with metallic conductivity in a wide temperature range which makes it suitable for application as electrode material for thin films. In this paper LNO thin films were prepared by polymerizable complex method from the diluted citrate solutions. Precursor solutions were spin coated onto Si-substrates with amorphous layer of SiO2. Deposited layers were thermally treated from the substrate side with low heating rate (1°/min) up to 700°C and finally annealed for 10 hours. Results of AFM and FESEM showed that films are very smooth (Ra = 4 nm), dense, crack-free and with large square-shaped grains (170 nm). According to FESEM and TEM results the obtained four-layered film was only 65 nm thin. EBSD and XRD analyses confirmed polycrystalline microstructure of the films without preferential orientation. It was concluded that the presence of SiO2 layer on Si substrate prevents epitaxial or oriented growth of LNO.

The effect of heterocyclic S,S’-ligands on the electrochemical properties of some cobalt(III) complexes in acid

AB  - Eight mixed-ligand cobalt(III) complexes with the macrocyclic amine 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (cyclam) and a heterocyclic dithiocarbamate (Rdtc-)i.e., morpholine-(Morphdtc), thiomorpholine- (Timdtc), piperazine-(Pzdtc), N-methylpiperazine-(Mepzdtc), piperidine- (Pipdtc), 2-, 3- or 4-methylpiperidine-(2-, 3- and 4-Mepipdtc) carbodithionato-S,S ions, of the general formula [Co(cyclam)Rdtc](ClO4)2, were investigated in deoxygenated 0.1 MHClO4 solutions. Cyclic voltammetry data at a glassy carbon (GC) electrode demonstrate a redox reaction of cobalt(III) from the complexes at potentials strongly influenced by the presence of different heterocyclic Rdtc- ligands. In this respect, the complexes were separated into two groups: the first, with a heteroatom O, S or N in the heterocyclic ring, and the second, with a methyl group on the piperidine ring of the Rdtc- ligand. Anodic polarization of an Fe electrode in the presence of the complexes shows their influence not only on the dissolution of iron but also on the hydrogen evolution reactions and on this basis complexes the complexes could be divided into the same two groups. It was found that the weaker the inhibiting effect of the free heterocyclic amines is, the significantly higher is the efficiency of the corresponding complexes.
AB  - Osam mešovito-ligandnih kompleksa kobalta(III) sa makrocikličnim aminom 1,4,8,11-tetraazaciklotetradekanom (cyclam) i heterocikličnim ditiokarbamatima (Rdtc-) t.j., morfolin-(Morphdtc), tiomorfolin-(Timdtc), piperazin-(Pzdtc), N-metilpiperazin-(Mepzdtc), piperidin-(Pipdtc), 2-, 3- ili 4-metilpiperidin- (2-, 3- i 4-Mepipdtc) karboditionato-S,S jonima, opšte formule [Co(cyclam)Rdtc)](ClO4)2 , ispitano je u 0,1 M HClO4 rastvoru na elektrodi od staklastog ugljenika i gvožđa. Ciklična voltametrija na elektrodi od staklastog ugljenika pokazala je da dolazi do redoks reakcije kobalt(III) jona iz kompleksa. Različiti heterociklični Rdtc- ligandi utiču na vrednost potencijala ove redoks reakcije. Na osnovu ovih vrednosti kompleksi se mogu podeliti u dve grupe: jednu sa heteroatomom u heterocikličnom prstenu i drugu sa metil-grupom na piperidinskom prstenu Rdtc- liganda. Anodna polarizacija gvožđa u prisustvu kompleksa pokazala je njihov uticaj ne samo na reakciju rastvaranja metala već i na reakciju izdvajanja vodonika. Rezultati su pokazali da što je slabiji inhibitorski efekat heterocikličnog amina to je veći uticaj odgovarajućeg kompleksa.

Analysis of morphologies of magnetic nanocontacts obtained by electrochemical deposition and their magnetoresistance

AB  - In this work, morphologies of Fe - Fe, Co - Co and Ni81Fel9 – Ni81Fe19 nanocontacts obtained by the electrode position were analyzed. The obtained nanocontacts showed a very large ballistic magnetoresistance. It was shown that it is not possible to give the correlation between morphologies of nanocontacts and the effect of ballistic magnetoresistance. The stability of the obtained magnetic nanocontacts was very small. For that reason corrosion processes on magnetic nanocontacts, as well as possible their protection must be investigated.
AB  - U radu su analizirane morfologije elektrohemijski dobijenih nanokontakata gvožđe - gvožđe, kobalt - kobalt i Ni81Fe19 – Ni81Fe19 (permaloj permaloj). Dobijeni nanokontakti pokazuju visoke vrednosti balističke magnetorezistencije. Pokazano je da nije moguće uspostaviti vezu između određene morfologije nanokontakta i efekta balističke magnetorezistencije (BMR efekta). Dobijeni magnetni kontakti su pokazali malu stabilnost, tako daje neophodno uložiti dodatne napore na ispitivanju mogućih korozionih procesa na njima, kao i na mogućoj njihovoj zaštiti.

Characterization and electrocatalytic application of silver modified polypyrrole electrodes

AB  - Silvermodified polypyrrole electrodes were prepared with the aim of testing them for the electro oxidation of formaldehyde in alkaline solution. The modification of polypyrrole by immersion in aqueous AgNO3 solution was studied by cyclic voltammeter and vacuum techniques (AES and XPS). The influence of time of immersion and the thickness of the polypyrrole film, prepared by electrochemical polymerization, on the modification of the polymer were examined. The results acquired from both electrochemical and spectroscopic examinations show that immersion of a polypyrrole electrode in a AgNO3 solution results in its modification with silver, which is deposited in the elemental state on the surface. The quantity of silver deposited depends not only on the immersion time but also on the thickness of the polymer film. A modified PPy/Ag electrode exhibits catalytic activity for the electro oxidation of CH2O in NaOH. In spite of the low quantity of silver, the activity of the electrode for this reaction is comparable to that of a polycrystalline silver electrode.
AB  - Elektrode od polipirola modifikovanog srebrom (PPy/Ag) ispitivane su za elektrooksidaciju formaldehida u natrijum-hidroksidu. Polipirol je modifikovan samo uranjanjem u rastvor srebro-nitrata, a dobijene elektrode su ispitivane cikličnom voltametrijom i vakuum tehnikama (AES i XPS). Polipirol je dobijen elektrohemijskom polimerizacijom pirola, a ispitivan je uticaj vremena uranjanja i debljine polimernog filma na modifikaciju polimera srebrom. Rezultati dobijeni elektrohemijskim i spektroskopskim ispitivanjima su pokazali da se polipirol uronjen u rastvor srebro-nitrata spontano modifikuje srebrom koje se taloži u elementarnom obliku. Količina nataloženog srebra zavisi ne samo od vremena uranjanja već i od debljine polimernog filma. Modifikovane elektrode PPy/Ag pokazuju katalitičku aktivnost za elektrooksidaciju formaldehida u natrijum-hidroksidu. Aktivnost ovih elektroda i pri malim količinama spontano nataloženog srebra, uporediva je sa aktivnošću polikristalne srebrne elektrode.

The influence of concentration of Nd-Fe-B powder in composite coating of optical fiber to the sensibility to external magnetic field

AB  - Multi-mode optical fiber with magnetic composite coating was investigated as an optical fiber sensor element (OFMSE) for magnetic field sensing The composite coating was formed with dispersions of permanent magnet powder of Nd-Fe-B in poly (ethylene-co-vinyl acetate)-EVA solutions in toluene. The influence of the applied external magnetic field on the change of intensity of the light signal propagate trough developed optical fibers sensor element was investigated. In this paper the influence of the content of magnetic powder in the composite coating on the optical propagation characteristics of optical fiber were particularly investigated.

AB  - The part of results obtained during the investigation of synthesis of composites based on nonwoven textile materials (NTM) and alumosilicates are presented. The newly obtained material is composite agro textile that can be used in protection of the soil from chemical pollutants. The possibility of obtaining composites on elevated temperatures under the pressure was investigated. Hemp fibers, NTM based on polypropylene (PP) as well as betonies powder of defined granulation and specific surface area are used for making composites. The investigated composite material showed satisfactory capability of irreversible removal of Pb2+ ions from solution.
AB  - Prikazan je deo rezultata ostvarenih pri dobijanju kompozita na bazi netkanih tekstilnih materijala (NTM) i alumosilikata. Novodobijeni materijal predstavlja kompozitni agrotekstil koji bi trebalo da nađe primenu u zaštiti zemljišta od hemijskog zagađenja. Ispitana je mogućnost dobijanja kompozita postupkom presovanja na povišenoj temperaturi. Kompoziti su izrađeni od vlakana konoplje, NTM na bazi polipropilena (PP) i bentonintog praha definisane granulacije i specifične površine. Istraživani kompozitni materijal pokazao je zadovoljavajuću sposobnost ireverzibilnog uklanjanja jona Pb2+ iz rastvora.

AB  - B-Norcholestane epoxide 2 is reduced with lithium aluminium hydride to give either the 3β,6α-diol 3 or the corresponding 3β,5α-diol 4, depending on the quality of the reducing reagent employed. Aplausible mechanistic explanation of the obtained results is suggested.

The effect of the presence of alcohol in the dispersing phase of oxide sols on the properties of RuO2-TiO2/Ti anodes obtained by the sol-gel procedure

AB  - The effect of the addition of ethanol and 2-propanol to the dispersing phase of TiO2 and RuO2 sols mixture on the morphology and, consequently, on the electrochemical properties of the sol-gel obtained activated titanium anodes was investigated. The properties of the obtained anodes were compared to those obtained by the thermal decomposition of appropriate chloride salts. The morphology of the anode coatings was examined by scanning tunneling microscopy. The electrochemical behaviour was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and by polarization measurements. An accelerated stability test was used for the examination of the stability of the anodes under simultaneous oxygen and chlorine evolution reaction. A dependence of the anode stability on the type of added alcohol is indicated.
AB  - U radu je ispitivan uticaj dodavanja etanola odnosno izopropanola u disperznu sredinu smeše solova TiO2 i RuO2 na morfologiju i elektrohemijske osobine aktiviranih titanskih anoda dobijenih sol-gel postupkom. Osobine ovako dobijenih anoda su poređene kako međusobno tako i sa osobinama anoda dobijenih termičkim postupkom iz hlorida rutenijuma i titana. Morfologija anodnih prevlaka ispitivana je skenirajućom tunelskom mikroskopijom, a elektrohemijsko ponašanje cikličnom voltametrijom i polarizacionim merenjima. Stabilnost anoda u paralelnim reakcijama izdvajanja kiseonika i hlora ispitivana je ubrzanim testom stabilnosti. Uočeno je da morfologija, elektrokatalitička aktivnost i stabilnost dobijenih anoda zavisi od vrste dodatog alkohola.

AB  - The crystal structure of 14-oxo-13,14-seco-5α-cholest-13(18)-en-3β-yl acetate (2), obtained (in addition to the (E)-Δ12-isomer 3) by oxidative fragmentation of the C(13)-C(14) bond of 14α-hydroxy-5α-cholestan-3β-yl acetate (1), was determined by X-ray analysis. In addition, the configurations of the acetoxy derivatives 4-6, formed by the thermal lead tetraacetate oxidation of 1, were deduced from the relevant 1H-NMR parameters.

Pored toga, konfiguracije njegovih acetoksi derivata 4-6, koji se grade pri termičkoj olovo-tetraacetatnoj oksidaciji, izvedene su na osnovu odgovarajućih 1H-NMR parametara.

AB  - Expoxidation of cholesta-5,8-dien-3β-yl acetate (1) with peracids takes place preferentially at the more highly substituted Δ8-olefinic double bond to give: (a) with monoperphthalic acid, 8α,9α-epoxycholest-5-en-3β-yl acetate (2) (in 39 % yield) and 9α-hydroxy-5α,6α-epoxycholest-8(14)-en-3β-yl acetate (3) (in 30 % yield); and (b) with m-chloroperbenzoic acid, the 8α,9α-epoxide 2 (64 %) and 5α,6α-epoxy derivative 3 (20 %). Some chemical transformations of the obtained epoxides are described.
AB  - Epoksidacija holesta-5,8-dien-3β-il acetata (1) sa perkiselinama prvenstveno se odvija na više supstituisanoj Δ8-olefinskoj dvoguboj vezi pri čemu se dobija: (a) sa monoperftalnom kiselinom, 8α,9α-epoksiholest-5-en-3β-il acetat (2) (u prenosu od 39 %) i 9α-hidroksi-5α,6α-epoksiholest-8(14)-en-3β-il acetat (3) (u prenosu od 30 %); i (b) sa m-hlorperbenzoevom kiselinom, 8α,9α-epoksid 2 (u prenosu od 64 %) i 5α,6α-epoksi derivat 3 (u prenosu od 20 %). Opisane su i neke hemijske transformacije dobijenih epoksida.

Some chemical transformations of the obtained epoxides are described., Epoksidacija holesta-5,8-dien-3β-il acetata (1) sa perkiselinama prvenstveno se odvija na više supstituisanoj Δ8-olefinskoj dvoguboj vezi pri čemu se dobija: (a) sa monoperftalnom kiselinom, 8α,9α-epoksiholest-5-en-3β-il acetat (2) (u prenosu od 39 %) i 9α-hidroksi-5α,6α-epoksiholest-8(14)-en-3β-il acetat (3) (u prenosu od 30 %); i (b) sa m-hlorperbenzoevom kiselinom, 8α,9α-epoksid 2 (u prenosu od 64 %) i 5α,6α-epoksi derivat 3 (u prenosu od 20 %). Opisane su i neke hemijske transformacije dobijenih epoksida.",
