AB - The classic methods of cleaning oldfashioned textile museum objects with metallic threads often do not yield the expected results. The use of laser in the conservation of these objects plays an important role as very efficient and ecologically friendly technique. Conservation and restoration of historical exhibits with metal-textile combinations is becoming ever more complex due to a huge variety of damaging factors. The paper presents the results of the corrosion laser cleaning effects on ethnographic textile with metallic threads from the holdings of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, using Nd:YAG laser. Testing of the cleaning effects was performed by optical and scanning electron microscopy. Chemical analysis of metal threads is made by EDX and XRD analysis. Parameters for successful and safe cleaning of corrosion products on metallic threads were determined.

AB - The main aim of this paper is to present the results of the morphological and chemical changes on the surface of a ceramic sample irradiated by the Nd:YAG laser. The tested sample is a part of an aqueduct tile, originating from the archaeological site of Yazd, Iran. The laser irradiation effects were studied as a function of the number of laser pulses and laser fluences around and over the damage threshold. The obtained modifications were investigated because these are essential in laser cleaning of aqueduct ceramics. The Nd: YAG laser with a wavelength, lambda, of 1064 nm and full width at half maximum (FWHM) pulse, tau, of 150 ps has been used for the surface treatment. The ceramic surface morphology modifications, induced by laser, were characterized by a scanning electron microscope (SEM), while the composition was examined by energy-dispersive (EDX) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy. The results show that there are significant differences depending on the applied laser fluences and whether the surface is glazed or not.

AB - A great number of textile objects with metallic embroidery are kept in Ethnographic Museums all over the world. Corrosion is a process that occurs under the external chemical, mechanical and biological influences. The museum conservators invest significant efforts to provide the necessary conditions for preventive protection. The classic methods of cleaning old textile objects with metallic threads often do not yield the expected results and the use of laser in the conservation of these objects plays an important role.
Laser cleaning is an effective cleaning technique of metal corrosion layers since it provides a high degree of control. That allows fragile objects with a considerable amount of surface details. The most complicated implementation of laser is in cleaning the objects with multi-component composition such as, for example, metal and textile combination. Although there are certain published results, this domain has not been sufficiently researched because every object is a problem that requires study and comprehensive research before cleaning is attempted.
This paper shows the results of research conducted with the aim of determining optimum parameters in the process of cleaning the product of corrosion on a woman's costume part, apron, from southern Serbia (study collection of the Ethnographic museum in Belgrade). Laser cleaning was made by using the Nd:Yag laser with three wavelengths 1064 and 532 nm, and energies between 2-200mJ. The obtained results were studied with a USB optical microscope, electron microscope SEM, with EDX analysis.

AB - This paper recognizes the synergetic relationship and inextricable linkage between conservation and sustainability. Heritage preservation maximizes the use of existing materials and infrastructure, reduces waste, and preserves the historic character of older towns and cities. This paper also presents technical advances in BPS/BES (Building Performance Simulation/Building Energy Simulation), and in co-simulation for energy efficiency optimization, RES integrated historic building's greening and historic neighborhoods, settlements, as well as whole cities urban re-planning. Further, the paper presents initial results of the Aviation Museum in Belgrade preliminary energy refurbishment study focusing results obtained via BPS and co-simulation. Foreseen is the deep energy refurbishment aimed to reach the “total building performance optimization” encompassing multifunctional optimization of building's skin – glazing replacement with the semi-transparent PV glazing and day-lighting control with reference to the artifact preservation, as well as the IEQ (Indoor Environment Quality) control analysis. This study shows that the RES integrated refurbishment can result in the Museum's Zero CO2 emission and even in the sustainable Energy + status (producing more than using electricity). Finally, needs for most current ICT knowledge use and refurbishment technologies development, as well as integrated design, including particularly relevant benchmarking and rating system development are outlined.

AB - This paper presents the results of the morphological and chemical changes on the surface of an Iranian ceramics sample irradiated by a Transversely Excited Atmospheric (TEA) CO2 and an Nd:YAG laser. The sample originates from the archeological site of Yazd (Iran) and is assumed to have been a part of an aqueduct. The effect of laser parameters (energy density (fluency), number of pulses and wavelength) on the induced changes was studied. The tests were performed in order to establish the mechanism of the interaction with the fluence above the damage threshold. This is an essential parameter in the use of lasers for cleaning as well as for eliminating surface defects such as cracks, by melting superficial layers and thus strengthening the objects in question. Another objective was to obtain as much as possible information about the material composition necessary for the conservation and restoration of this ceramics. A TEA CO2 (10.6 μm wavelength, pulse duration 100 ns (Full Width at Half Maximum – FWHM)) laser and an Nd:YAG laser (wavelength 1064 nm and 532 nm, FWHM ¼ 150 ps) have been used for the surface treatment. Laser fluences were in the range of 1–20 J/cm2. The ceramics surface morphology modifications, induced by pulsed lasers, were characterized by a scanning electron microscope (SEM),while the composition was examined by energy-dispersive (EDX) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy. The results show that there are significant differences depending on the laser applied and whether the surface is glazed or not.

abstract = "This paper presents the results of the morphological and chemical changes on the surface of an Iranian ceramics sample irradiated by a Transversely Excited Atmospheric (TEA) CO2 and an Nd:YAG laser. AB - This paper presents the results of the laser cleaning effects on textile samples with corroded metallic threads. In many museum collections, there are textile exhibits like uniforms, national costumes, flags and home textile, embroidered with metallic threads. Corrosion of metal threads is one of the most common problems that damage embroidered items. In the practice, the application of conventional cleaning methods rarely gives the expected results, and the implementation of laser technology was the next step for corrosion products cleaning. The Nd:YAG laser was used to clean the corrosion of embroidered items from a museum study collection. The effects on the laser irradiated zones were investigated by optical and SEM microscopy and the EDX analysis. The laser irradiation process parameters of the metal threads corrosion

AB - Air pollution results in the deposition of variety of organic and inorganic compounds on the surface of historic monuments. Traditional methods of ceramics cleaning include abrasive treatments, chemical treatments, ultrasound and steam cleaning. Laser cleaning is the most effective and the safest of all of the methods used in the restoration of monuments. Often this is the only way to perform cleaning without damaging the surface. The laser technology, in contrast to the traditional one, does not use of water, caustic solvents, solutions, abrasives or other chemicals; hence after execution of works a minimum amount of waste is produced so that is environmentally suitable. The only wastes generated are the impurities ejected from the surface. Safety spectacles and a face mask are the only necessary protective clothing.
The paper presents analysis of lasers potentials in cleaning of archaeological ceramic. Ceramic archaeological sample was exposed by the various combinations of laser wavelengths, energy density (fluency) and number of pulses. Based on the results the morphological and chemical changes on the surface of the ceramic samples could be investigated and the damage threshold could be determined. These are the essential parameters in the use of lasers for cleaning. TEA CO2 (10.6 μm wavelength, pulse duration 100 ns) and Nd:YAG laser (wavelength 1064 nm and 532 nm) have been used for surfaces treatment. AB - This paper presents the results obtained by numerical simulation, of air pollution dispersion from the stacks of steel plant in the direction of Smederevo fortress. Trajectories and concentrations of pollutants (particulate matters, CO and NO2) were determined by commercial software ANSYS FLUENT. The relief of the terrain was included in the geometry of the numerical domain (11400x3600x100 m). An unstructured mesh composed of more than three million cells was generated. Southeast wind speed was 2.9 m/s blowing in the direction parallel to the longest side of the domain. Atmospheric conditions correspond to conversion, i.e. increase in temperature with height. The sources of pollution included in the simulation are central agglomeration stack, blast fumaces stack and central stack of steel-making. Obtained results represent the first step in a complex, multidisciplinary research of the industrial zones impact on cultural heritage objects.

AB - Infrared (IR) thermography, as a diagnostic technique, is used to find
anomalies in the thermal signature of the Military museum building in Belgrade,
to identify irregularities or deficiencies, such as wet materials, voids,
or missing insulation and to inspect energy efficiency of the museum
building and microclimatic indoor conditions. It is very important to perform
preventative maintenance and stop undesirable environment influences
that induce structural damage, modification of materials and agglomeration
of pollutants and microorganisms on the cultural heritage artifacts, stored
in the museum depot or exhibited in the galleries. The main causes for
corrosion in historical buildings and museum artifacts are moisture and
changeable temperature conditions. This paper deals with the results obtained
in the application of IR thermography in determination of these
conditions in the Military museum building, where very important metal artifacts
are exhibited and deposed. The results show poor thermal insulation,
wet walls and, generally, low energy efficiency.
energetske efikasnosti zgrada i unutrašnjih mikroklimatskih uslova.
eksponatima. Ovaj rad prikazuje rezultate termografskih ispitivanja
zgrade Vojnog muzeja, gde se nalaze veoma značajni metalni eksponati.
Rezultati pokazuju da postoji veoma loša toplotna izolacija, vlaga
u zidovima i slaba energetska efikasnost.

wet walls and, generally, low energy efficiency., Infracrvena termografija, kao dijagnostička tehnika, služi za ispitivanje
energetske efikasnosti zgrada i unutrašnjih mikroklimatskih uslova.
eksponatima. Ovaj rad prikazuje rezultate termografskih ispitivanja
zgrade Vojnog muzeja, gde se nalaze veoma značajni metalni eksponati.
Rezultati pokazuju da postoji veoma loša toplotna izolacija, vlaga
u zidovima i slaba energetska efikasnost.",

AB - This paper presents the results of the ruby laser light interaction with glass surface. The investigation was conducted in order to determine the maximum density of laser light energy (λ = 694.3 nm, t = 30ns) that can be safely applied in different laser systems used in nondestructive testing methods (NDT). The process of irradiation took place in atmospheric conditions. The results show that interaction of laser beams with glass materials is a complex phenomenon. It depends on many factors and it is associated with localized formation of plasma, heating of the material that leads to melting and transient stresses causing mechanical damages. The zones of laser light interactions were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy-dispersal unit for the analysis of X-ray (EDX). The results obtained by SEM and EDX analysis show that the maximum allowable energy density is 5 J/cm2 for ruby laser light.

AB - Comparative analysis of different, new gas sensing materials in surface acoustic wave chemical sensors is presented. Different gas sensing materials as polyaniline (PANI), Teflon AF 2400, polyisobutylene (PIB), polyepichlorohydrin (PECH) are considered. They are chosen according to the type of gas to be detected and the desired accuracy: Teflon AF 2400 thin film for the detection of CO2, PANI nanocomposites film that belongs to the group of conductive polymers for the detection of CO, NO2 and phosgene (COCl2), and PECH and PIB for the detection of dichloromethane (CH2Cl2, DCM). In the analysis, the simple and useful method of the complete analyses of gas chemical sensors is used. The method is based on the electrical equivalent circuit of the surface acoustic wave sensor. The method is very efficient and can be used for the optimal design of CO2 sensors. The results are compared with those presented in public literature and good agreement is obtained, demonstrating the validity of modelling.

AB - This paper presents the results of the IR thermographic diagnostics of the seismic damage inflicted upon the Žiča Monastery after the earthquake on 3rd November 2010. The Žiča Monastery founded in 13th century is located in central Serbia. The moisture content in the structure was detected too. The obtained results document the current state of the buildings and, at the same time, confirm the advantages of IR thermography as a method in the diagnosis of earthquake cracks, useful for the seismic retrofit study. The obtained results enable the identification of the structure parts where more in-depth investigations need to be concentrated. The procedures and activities for curative conservation and protection of the Žiča Monastery should include the thermographic test results. The results and the conclusions obtained in this case study could be used as example for further extensive studies of historical and cultural heritage buildings.

AB - The paper presents the results of moisture detection in the depot and galleries of the Aeronautical Museum in Belgrade. The moisture and changeable temperature conditions are the main causes for corrosion in historical buildings and museum artefacts. The main purpose of the tests was to determine these conditions in the museum where very important metal artefacts are exhibited and deposed, including the only surviving example of the Fiat G50 aircraft, by applying passive IR thermography. The advantages of thermography in a rapid and accurate detection of moisture in the walls, ceilings and floors of the museum are analysed. Active IR thermography is used for the determination of the composite structure and the characterisation of hidden corrosion in some parts of the Fiat G50 aircraft. The recorded thermograms indicate the damage due to corrosion in many parts examined in detail by radiography and the XRD method.
Fiat G50. AB - This paper presents the results of the interactions ruby laser light - surface of glass. The investigation was conducted in order to determine the maximum energy density laser light which can be safely applied in the different optical systems. Holographic interferometry, ESPI, shearography, laser tomography and other diagnostic methods use ruby laser light. It is useful therefore to determine the maximum energy density laser light with a wavelength of lambda=694.3 nm, which does not cause damage to glass components of systems.
