AB  - The papers dealing with the effects of electrodeposition conditions on the decisive characteristics of electrolytic copper powder and their mutual relations are reviewed, and a semiquantitative theory based on them is presented. Also, the method for the estimation of the surface energy of disperse deposit formation based on the estimation of a surface area of deposits at different overpotentials is proposed. Then, the values of the surface energy of disperse deposit formation estimated in this way are used for the correlation of the specific surface of a powder to the electrodeposition conditions. The good agreement between the values of the specific surface of a powder determined in this way and those found in the literature is obtained. The apparent density of a powder as one of the decisive characteristics of metal powders is also correlated to the specific surface, and hence, to the electrodeposition conditions. In this chapter, the size of representative powder particle having the same specific surface as a powder is defined and the shape of the particle size distribution curve is analyzed. The problems concerning the effect of the particle shape and structure on the flowability of electrolytically formed copper powder are also discussed.© 2009 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. Flowability of electrolytic copper powder

AB  - The surface structure of powder particles, which allows free flow of copper powder, was examined. It has been shown that a sufficiently dense surface structure which permits free flow will be obtained if apparent density is higher than 2.2 - 2.3 g/cm(3). Such a surface structure can be obtained by reversing current electrodeposition of powder at considerably lower apparent densities of powder due to selective dissolution of subparticles during anodic time of reversing current wave. The surface structure of copper powder particles is discussed and correlated with the lowest apparent density at which the copper powder can still flow.

AB  - The structure of powder particleswas analysed by considering their cross sections. It was shown that the structure of powder particles of nonsieved flowing powders is sufficiently dense to produce a continuous surface, which does not allow the particles to jam and hence permits the free flow of nonsieved powder. It was also shown that the representative powder particle the elementary cell of which can be presented by a 3D-cross, describes the properties of the powder relative to its flowability well.
AB  - Analizirana je struktura čestica praha razmatranjem njihovog poprečnog preseka Pokazano je da je struktura čestica nesejanog praha koji teče dovoljno gusta da obrazuje kontinualnu površinu, koja ne dozvoljava zaglavljivanje čestica i samim tim omogućava slobodno tečenje nesejanih prahova. Takođe je pokazano da reprezentativna čestica praha, čija se elementarna ćelija može predstaviti 3D-krstom, dobro opisuje osobine praha koje se odnose na tečljivost.

AB  - One of the most important properties of copper powder is its flow ability which depends on the shape and the structure of the powder particles. A procedure for the determination of a representative powder particle permitting the free flow of copper powder is proposed.

The critical apparent density for the free flow of copper powder

AB  - A method for the determination of the critical apparent density, which permits the free flow of electrodeposited copper powder is discussed. It was found that powders the apparent density of which were larger than 2.3 g/cm3 exhibit free flow. This is in good agreement with the literature data.
AB  - Razmatrana je metoda određivanja kritične nasipne mase, pri kojoj dolazi do tečenja elektrohemijski taloženog praha bakra. Nađeno je da tečenje postoji kod prahova čija je nasipna masa veća od 2.3 g/cm3, što je u saglasnosti sa literaturnim podacima.
