AB - Plocnik near Prokuplje is the location of the excavations of the interesting Neolithic settling having very developed pottery production for a period of about 800 years. Pottery artifacts are carrying information about the technological skills of Neolithic people and are giving the insight about their ability to control fire and firing process. This ability is performed in producing different color of their vessel and having bowls having very fine structure. In order to reconstruct the pottery production technique in the scope of the experimental archaeology two approaches were used. The classical geology approach was used to identify the origin of the clay used in the production. Petrography gives insight into the structural characteristics of the pottery. In order to reveal the technique of production of bowls and other utility pottery objects the multi slice scanner was used. The pottery has the density that is comparable to that one of the bones and the imaging techniques used for bone structure identification are used in this study.

AB - In this study the eight bowls having different shap es, sizes and grades from the Vinča II period were chosen for the examination of ceramic body morphology. The morphology of ceramic pads, prepared in the laboratory using clays that were sampled nearby the excavation site, were also considered. The optical microscopy images of the pottery ceramic body and test pads were analyzed using the ImagePro plus 4 software package. Multivariate statistical analysis was employed to classify pottery sherds and clays according to their morphology. The obtained results show that morphological characteristics of the minerals can be considered as viable in recognition of the clay source.

AB - A regional geochemical mapping of Serbia has been done, according to conception of making geochemical atlas of Western Europe. Research were conducted in the areas of eastern, western, southern and central Serbia, including the areas of Gnjilane, Pristina, Kosovska Mitrovica, and on the north areas of Vrsac – Bela Crkva and Pancevo.
Using geochemical prospection, the samples of different environments of the geosphere („Overbank“ sediments, stream sediments and A-horizons) were systematically collected by zones whose area is from 60 to 600 km2, and the average density of sampling is a sample for 400 km2, including an area of 60000 km2. During geochemical prospection, on each location, in coastal profile lithogeochemical mapping and sampling of lithologic members was performed in which the geochemical information from larger drainage area was preserved. The sampling net is adjusted to the hydrographic characteristics of the terrain. The methodology of work is aligned with the criteria that working group for regional Geochemical mapping proposed on the meeting Western European geochemical associations (WEGS). In collected samples content of 38 elements was determined using appropriate analytical methods and international standards. Of particular imortance are results of radionuclides analyses 238U, 232Th, 40K, especially in depleted uranium contaminated areas. This paper presents the results of research in Eastern Serbia in the period of postindustrial development of the region, and importance of the coastal profile in defining the status preindustrial region. A method of mathematical statistics was used for data processing, and program BRGM-GDM 5 for making maps.
By defining the ecological status of the region of Eastern Serbia, the basis for monitoring anthropogenic impacts on the environment was formed.

AB - Multidisciplinary research of traditional pottery production includes three primary areas: heritology, materials technology and experimental archeology, which are methodologically supported by geological and physical-chemical analysis, and methodological apparatus of anthropology and ethnology. Definition of intangible heritage in the field of traditional ceramics manufacturing, in accordance with the Convention on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage (UNESCO), refers to the identification, investigation and documentation of authentic production technology of ceramics, and revitalization of intangible cultural heritage through education and the transfer of traditional techniques. In this paper the planned research phases of the Neolithic pottery Vinča (B), Vinča-Tordos II, from the location near Prokuplje are presented. The main aim of this research is to protect the traditional production of pottery technology as an intangible cultural asset.
