AB  - The crystal structure of ludwigite from Vranovac ore deposit (Boranja Mt., Serbia) was refined using the X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) Rietveld method in the space group Pbam to a final RB=7.45% and RF=5.26%. It has the unit cell dimensions of: a=9.2515(2) Å; b=12.3109(2) Å; c=3.03712(7) Å; and V=345.91(1) Å3. The calculated distances and angles are mostly in good agreement with the Mg2+-Fe2+ substitutions across the M(1) and M(3) sites, as well as with the Fe3+-Al3+ replacement in the M(4) site. However, the mean observed M(2)-O distance is considerably shorter than prescribed, due to a slight increase of the Fe3+ content in the M(2) site. Such replacement was compensated by slight increase of the Fe2+ content in the M(4) site, resulting in the (Mg1.48Fe2+0.46Fe3+0.05Mn0.02)2.01(Fe3+0.94Fe2+0.04Al0.02)1.00B1.00O5 composition. The formation temperature was estimated to be about 500–600°C. The influences of the various chemical compositions to the crystallographic parameters, M-O distances, M(3) and M(4) sites shift, distortion parameters and estimated valences, were also studied and compared with other reference samples.

Macroscopically-zoned grandite from the garnetite skarn of Meka Presedla (Kopaonik Mountain, Serbia)

AB  - The macroscopically-zoned grandite from the garnetite skarn of Meka Presedla (Kopaonik Mountain, Serbia) was studied with optical microscopy, electron microprobe analysis (EMPA), Fourier transform infra-red (FT–IR), and Raman methods. The EMPA results indicate that the main core–rim compositional variations (Ca2.93–2.97Mn0.05–0.06Mg0.00–0.01Al1.14–1.26Fe3+0.72–0.83Ti0.00–0.02Si2.97–3.02O12) slightly differ along the zones, showing evidence for a quasi-cyclic alternation of the oscillatory zoning nature. Among this, considerable variation is observed only by the Al–Fe3+ substitutions in the octahedral site. The EMPA also indicate that the grandite zones compositionally vary, mostly within ±1 and ±2 mol% of the homogeneity level range, that is, Grs64±1Adr36±1Sps2 (A), Grs62±1Adr38±1Sps2 (B), Grs59±2Adr40±2Sps2 (C), Grs58±2Adr41±2Sps2 (D), and Grs58±1Adr41±1Sps2 (E). Therefore, the investigated garnet can be considered as relatively highly homogeneous. The majority of compositions lie within the narrow miscibility region of 0.58±2<XGrs<0.64±1, without gaps, and with only three outliers near the zone boundaries of approximately 0.38<XGrs<0.52. FT–IR and Raman bands are almost constant within the zones and adequate to the chemical compositions. All of the zones should be considered as anhydrous. From the results, formation temperatures between ~600 and 720oC, and pressures of ~2–3 kbars, are derived. Among five possible causes for the slightly optical anisotropy of grandite, three were reconsidered, and consequently rejected.

AB  - A beryl crystal from Cer Mt. (Serbia) studied in this paper was characterized by means of
XRPD and wet-chemical analyses. It has following unit cell dimensions: a = 9.2166(8) Å, c = 9.192(1) Å, V = 676.2(1) Å3 and ratio c/a = 0.9973. According to the calculated c/a ratio and structural formula of (Be2.86Li0.11)2.97(Al1.96Fe2+0.05)2.01Si5.96O18(Na0.09Ca0.03 Mg0.03K0.01)0.16 × 0.14H2O composition, this sample belongs to the “normal beryl group”. The obtained characteristics prove that the host pegmatite is of Li-bearing type.

AB  - Sediments of the western part of the Valjevo-Mionica basin (Serbia) were examined both geochemically and mineralogically to explain, on the basis of their sedimentological characteristics, the causes of changes in their qualitative and quantitative composition. A total of 62 samples obtained from the drillhole at depths up to 400 m was investigated. Using correlation of the obtained data, six geochemical zones were defined, two of which being specially distinguished by their mineralogical, geochemical and sedimentological characteristics. The first one, upper zone A, consists of banded marlstones interbedded with clay and oil shales and is characterized by presence of analcite and searlesite. These minerals and very high contents of Na(2)O indicate sedimentation in alkaline conditions with increased salinity in and climate. That provided pronounced water stratification, as well as higher bioproductivity in the basin and sedimentary organic matter preservation. Therefore, the zone A sediments are characterized by high organic matter contents of the type which provides good potential for production of liquid hydrocarbons. Another specific zone, zone F, contains sediments with very high MgO, K(2)O and Li concentrations. Their geochemical correlation, as well as almost complete absence of illite in this zone, indicates the presence of interstratified clay mineral type illite-saponite (lithium-bearing Mg-smectite).

X-ray investigations of arsenopyrites from some ore deposits of Serbia

AB  - With the X-ray investigations there were examined arsenopyrites from five ore deposits of Serbia: Crveni Breg (Avala), Rudnik (Rudnik), and Sastavci, Belo Brdo and Trepča (Kopaonik). Investigations involved qualitative sample analysis, then symmetry determination, determination of the unit cell parameters, and also determination of the percentual quantity of the arsenic and sulphur in arsenopyrites. Obtained results showed that analyzed arsenopyrite samples are more or less mutually different. There were established compositions of the investigated arsenopyrites, and also ratio As:S, which was basis for their estimated origin temperatures.

There were established compositions of the investigated arsenopyrites, and also ratio As:S, which was basis for their estimated origin temperatures.",

Sinteza i karakterizacija fosforom interkalisanih molibdenskih bronzi

AB  - Nedavno publikovani radovi 1,2 o termalno indukovanim faznim transformacijama fosforvolframove heteropolikiseline, pokazali su da se ova jedinjenja opšte formule H3+xAM12O40.nH2O (x=0-1; A=P, Si, B, As i Ge; M=Mo, W i V; n=30-6) i njihove soli, mogu upotrebiti kao prekursori za sintezu monofosfatnih fosforvolframovih bronzi (MPTB). 
Ista ideja iskorišćena je i za sintezu monofosfatnih molibdenskih bronzi (MPMoB). Kao prekursor upotrebljena je H3PMo12O40.29H2O heteropolikiselina 3. Fazna transformacija anhidrovanih PMo12O403- Keggin-ovih anjona u regularnu rešetku MoO3 bronze interkalisanu fosforom, indukovana je na 715K. Dalje strukturne fazne transformacije MPMoB ispitivane su metodama Rö-difrakcije, IC-spektroskopije, termijske (DTA, DSC i TGA) i hemijske analize do 1173K. Utvrđeno je da je sintetizovana MPMoB bronza (a0=3.9587(5)Å, b0=13.848(8)Å, c0=3.6946(6)Å dimorfna, a prelaz u visoko-temperatursku fazu dešava se između 973-1023K. Definisana struktura dobijenih bronzi odgovara opštoj sistematizaciji bronzi interkalisanih fosforom 4.

AB  - U ovom radu izloženi su najnoviji rezultati sistematskog ispitivanja heteropolikiselina kao protonskih provodnika, posebno 29-hidrata fosformolibdenove koseline (MoPA-29). 
Metodama infracrvene i mikro-Ramanske spektroskopije, Rö-difrakcije i termijske analize praćene su strukturne transformacije i dinamika protonskih vrsta (H3O+, H2O, OH-) u procesu dehidratacije/kalcinacije do 715K.
Konstatovano je da na sobnoj temperaturi kod 29-hidrata postoji visok stepen statističke neuređenosti i složena dinamička ravnoteža između različitih protonskih vrsta: H3O+, H2O, OH- (H). U procesu odgrevanja MoPA-29 gubi postepeno vodu i prelazi u niže hidrate (21-, 14- i 6-hidrat) 2,3, pri čemu se menja i dinamička slika među protonskim vrstama. Tako kod 6-hidrata postoji uglavnom ravnoteža između H5O2+ i H3O+ da bi u daljem procesu dehidratacije došlo i do pojave slobodnih protona. 
Struktura Keggin-ovog anjona zadržana je sve do formiranja monofosfatnih molibdenovih bronzi na temperaturi od 715K. 
Strukturne transformacije i ravnoteža protonskih vrsta imaju direktan uticaj na mehanizam protonske provodljivosti. Za MoPA-29 može se reći da je dominantan Grotthuss-ov mehanizam, dok na višim temperaturama preovlađuju kooperativni mehanizam i mehanizam skoka protona.

AB  - Different silicate minerals occurring in the skarn rocks of Meka Presedla-Mrkonje locality at the central Kopaonik Mt., have been investigated by chemical, IR spectroscopic and X-ray powder diffraction methods. According to the results, the hydrogrossular (An19Gr75), hydroandradite (An52Gr37), epidote (p=22%), disordered bytownite (An81Ab13Or6), mizonite (Me55Ma45), diopside (Di59Hd41) and hedenbergite (Di39Hd61) have been determined. The common characteristic of the investigated minerals is presence of volatiles in the form (OH) or tetrahedral (H4O4) ions, that suggest the metasomatic conditions of genesis.

Ispitivanje strukture hidrata fosforvolframove i fosformolibdenove heteropolikiseline na višim temperaturama

AB  - Heteropolikiseline spadaju u grupu jedinjenja koja su superjonski protonski provodnici na sobnoj temperaturi 1. Njihovu kristalnu strukturu prvi je odredio Keggin 2. Osnovnu strukturnu jedinicu čini Keggin-ov anjon XM12O403- (X=P, Si, As, B, …; M=Mo, W). 
U ovom radu dati su uporedni rezultati ispitivanja fosforvolframove (WPA) i fosformolibdenove (MoPA) heteropolikiseline u širokom temperaturskom intervalu (od sobne temperature do 1150oC). 
Pri ispitivanju korišćene su metode XRD i SEM, izvršena su termijska (DTA, TGA) i spektroskopska (IC i Raman-ska) ispitivanja.
Poznato je da 29-kristalohidrati WPA i MoPA, lako gube vodu i prelaze u niže kristalohidrate: 21, 14 i 6 u zavisnosti od temperature i relativne vlažnosti 3,4. Voda ima veoma važnu ulogu kako u strukturi ovih kristalohidrata, tako i na vrednosti provodljivosti, jer mrežom vodoničnih veza povezuje Keggin-ove anjone 5 i određuje protonske vrste kao nosioce naelektrisanja. 
Metode termijske analize DTA i TGA daju jasne podatke o dva endotermna pika do 100oC, koja odgovaraju faznim transformacijama od 29-21, odnosno od 21 u 14 hidrat. DTA i TGA krive jasno ukazuju i na postojanje anhidrovanog oblika, gde Keggin-ov anjon stabilizuju pojedinačni protoni. Postojanje pojedinačnih protona kod anhidrovanog uzorka WPA dokazano je i merenjem neelastičnog neutronskog rasejanja 6. Egzotermni pik na 602oC za WPA i 430oC za MoPA, odgovara rušenju strukture Keggin-ovog anjona, odnosno formiranju fosfornih bronzi. Struktura dobivenih faza, određena je metodom Ritveld-a. Uočena je razlika u dimenzijama elementarnih ćelija za iste kristalohidrate dve ispitivane heteropolikiseline. Nađeno je više polimorfnih modifikacija fosfornih bronzi nastalih iz obe kiseline. 
Spektroskopska (IC i Raman-ska) ispitivanja pomogla su da se identifikuje više protonskih vrsta između kojih postoji temperaturski zavisna dinamička ravnoteža. Dokazano je postojanje vodoničnih veza različite jačine kod ovih jedinjenja. 
Sve ovo je od posebne važnosti za razumevanje strukture i mehanizma protonske provodljivosti kod WPA i MoPA.
