AB - Aerophytic phototrophs, colonizers of different substrates exposed to air, among which are rock substrates in cave habitats, are in general not sufficiently investigated and studied. From the ecological point of view, seasonal/temporal variations and parameters that influence aerophytic phototrophic communities through seasons still remain largely unknown. Seasonal analysis of phototrophic microorganisms from biofilms developed at entrances of Samar and Jezava caves in Eastern Serbia was performed four times a year. All identified phototrophic representatives were assigned to a certain division or group. The relationship between documented groups and different measured, determined and observed ecological parameters was illustrated using principal component analysis (PCA). A high diversity of cyanobacteria and algae was observed as a result of seasonal sampling: 141 taxa in Samar and 61 taxa in Jezava Cave. Cyanobacteria were dominant in both caves (coccoid forms prevailing) and were followed by Bacillariophyta. Bacillariophyta were positively correlated with light intensity and sites where seeping water was present, and cyanobacteria with water content in biofilm, Chl a and relative air humidity. Higher diversity of phototrophs was documented in December and March, and lower in May and August in both caves with Chl a values having the same trend as the diversity of phototrophic microorganisms. This was especially the case with biofilms in which diversity was more prone to seasonal changes and where Cyanobacteria dominated. Only 24 taxa were documented during all four seasons in Samar Cave (Cyanobacteria, Bacillariophyta and Chlorophyta representatives) and three in Jezava Cave (Cyanobacteria only).

AB - The term bottled water applies for water packaged in a health-correct packaging available in the market for
human consumption. Consumers still have insufficient knowledge of the importance of certain water
ingredients and their harmful or beneficial effect on the human organism. There is not enough expert
information about the harmfulness of certain ingredients in the water, even if many countries of the world have
adopted legal acts in which quality parameters of bottled water are standardized1. In such declared water,
physiological characteristics of water, redox status and the consequences of bad health effects are neglected
due to excessive consumption of waters with high mineral content. Due to the increased content of mineral
substances and high sodium intake, the allowed daily intake should be declared for water loaded with mineral
substances. The oxide-reduction potential of water, EROX, represents the mixed potential of all present redox
pairs and directly affects the behavior of water relative to the agents with it comes into contact. In this research,
we measured all parameters that define redox status: pH value, redox potential and rH2 factor in a wide range
of bottled waters available on the market of the Republic of Serbia. The substances that are declared as
potentially toxics2 were detected by HPLC-MS/MS. The results pointed to the necessity of a detailed
declaration of bottled water to decrease the possible consequences of bad effects on health due to excessive
consumption of water rich with minerals.

AB - Bipolar electrochemistry (BPE) is an unconventional method to address conducting and semiconducting
particles in a wireless manner1. Unique features of BPE when compared to conventional electrochemical setup
where electrochemical reactions take place at the surface of two different electrodes both connected to a
potentiostat, allow us to address bipolar electrode electrochemically in a wireless fashion because there is no
direct connection with the power supply (see Figure 1.). Herein, we used the concept of BPE for the
electrochemical remediation of cyanotoxins following the formed products by HPLC-MS/MS. Due to the high
toxicity of cyanotoxins presenting potential global health problem, highly efficient remediation methods have
been under development in recent years, with advanced oxidation processes focused on mineralization as major
target. Electrochemical remediation arose as an interesting alternative with few reported protocols to date.

AB - Aerophytic phototrophs (cyanobacteria and algae) represent special group of microorganisms capable to inhabit various substrates exposed to air, as long as the conditions for their settlement (substrate properties) and development (ecological parameters) are favourable. Rock surfaces are often susceptible to colonization of microorganisms, whether they are manmade or natural (exposed or hypogean – caves). Phototrophic biofilms that develop on rock substrates in caves (walls, ceilings, stalactites, stalagmites and other formations) are very common at naturally or artificially illuminated sites. Even though their proliferation is triggered by light and ecological/microclimatic parameters, interactions with the substratum still remain largely unknown. It is evident that substrate properties play an important role in settlement of these microorganisms and initiation of biofilm development, but further, it is uncertain to what extent contribute to their growth. Generally rocks are composed of many minerals that can be directly absorbed by cyanobacteria and algae when dissolved in water. For the purpose of this study, phototrophic microorganisms (cyanobacteria and algae) from biofilms developed on rock substrates were explored and petrographic analysis was performed in 15 Serbian caves. Considering phototrophs, four divisions (Cyanobacteria, Bacillariophyta, Chlorophyta and Xanthophyta) were recorded, and considering petrographic analysis, examined samples showed the domination of limestone with five different varieties recognized. The relationship between phototrophs and limestone varieties (divided due to different petrographical characteristics) was represented using PCA. Recrystallized, organogenic, microsparitic, micritic and clastic limestone were all separated along first PCA axis. This trend may be the consequence of different physical characteristics of these limestone types, such as porosity. However, certain phototrophc groups were connected to certain limestone types, i.e. Bacillariophyta showed positive correlation with clastic limestone, less with microsparite and micritic, while Cyanobacteria were correlated to the other two limestone types. Chlorophyta and Xanthophyta did not have clear separation according to substrate.

AB - In the research phase of the geological status of the area of southeastern Banat, samples were collected from surface waters, wells, and lakes. The content of U, Ra, Rn is determined in water. The sampling network was adjusted to the hydrographic characteristics of the terrain, and a hydrogeochemical map has been made at a scale of 1:50 000. In addition to hydrogeochemical prospecting, samples of the soil river sediments were taken to determine the profile of the coast of the following lakes: Vračarevo, Šaransko, Bagersko and Veliko lake. The regional hydrogeochemical prospecting included the area of the Bela Crkva, which drained the sediments of Negotin and Kvartara. In this area and wider, in accordance with the results of regional investigation, semi-geological and semi-geochemical research was carried out to identify resources of mineral deposits as well as the sources for water supply of rural settlements. During research, samples of water from surface streams, sources, wells, lakes, water reservoirs, creek sediments and wall samples were collected and examined.

abstract = "In the research phase of the geological status of the area of southeastern Banat, samples were collected from surface waters, wells, and lakes. During research, samples of water from surface streams, sources, wells, lakes, water reservoirs, creek sediments and wall samples were collected and examined., U fazi istraživanja geološkog statusa područja jugoistočnog Banata, prikupljeni su uzorci sa površinskih akvatorija, bunara i jezera.

AB - The term bottled water refers to the water that is packaged in a health-correct packaging and that is available on the market for
human consumption. Consumers still have insufficient knowledge of the importance of certain ingredients and their harmful or
beneficial effects on the human body. Nowdays there are many legal acts in the world that regulate the quality of bottled water. In
order to assess the impact of packaging quality on the quality of bottled water, it is necessary to look at the regulation, both in the
field of water and in the field of packaging polymer. The information provided on the declaration is insufficient to see the quality of
the bottled water itself, and there is no indication of the potential toxic elements that can migrate from the packaging into the water.
Although PET is considered as inert material according certain components that are added to PET production can migrate in the
water, that must be regurarly controlled. Declarations of such products must follow the updating and monitoring of potentially toxic
parameters in accordance with European and world regulations. The impact of packaging, transport and storage on the change of
bottled water quality from the aspect of potentially toxic substances has been shown in many studies in the world, however, studies
of this type are rare in our country.

AB - The term bottled water means water packed in a health-correct packaging and available
in the market for human consumption. Consumers still have insufficient knowledge of
importance of the certain ingredients and their harmful or beneficial effect on the human
organism. There is not enough expert information about the harmfulness of certain
ingredients in the water, but many countries in the world have adopted legal regulations
in which quality parameters of bottled water are standardized (EEC, WHO1, EPA,
IBWA, FDA). The race for profit and the lack of necessary quantities of bottled waters
moved declarations in to the second plan. The declaration on bottled waters should
describe also the physiological characteristics, since the consumption of high-mineral
water may lead to adverse effects on the health of consumers, primarily children. In such
declared water, missing physiological characteristics of water, redox statuses, and
possible consequences on the health, are neglected due to excessive consumption of
waters with high mineral content. Due to the increased content of mineral substances
and high sodium intake, the allowed daily intake should be declared for water loaded
with mineral substances. Redox status of water represents a health factor and it is
completely defined by the pH value, redox potential and rH2 factor, parameters which
were the subject of this study in this work. The oxide-reduction potential of water, EROX,
represents the mixed potential of all present redox pairs and directly affects the behavior
of water relative to the agents to which comes into contact2. The results pointed to the
necessity of a fuller declaration of bottled water, because in that case bottled water
gained in importance and would decrease the consequences of the possible bad effects
on health due to excessive consumption of water rich with minerals. Test results
demonstrated that our market has a wide range of bottled waters, and that the health
aspect can be estimated through the oxidation-reduction properties.

AB - Bipolar electrochemistry (BPE) is an unconventional method to address conducting and
semiconducting particles in a wireless manner. Unique features of BPE when compared
to conventional electrochemical setup where electrochemical reactions take place at the
surface of two different electrodes both connected to a potentiostat, allow us to address
bipolar electrode electrochemically in a wireless fashion because there is no direct
connection with the power supply (see Figure 1.). Herein, we used the concept of BPE
as a straightforward way for the site selective deposition of materials on bipolar
electrodes. Furthermore, we use these materials for the electrochemical remediation of
cyanotoxins, a potential global health problem, exploiting the versatility of bipolar
electrochemistry. Due to the high toxicity of cyanotoxins, highly efficient remediation
methods have been under development in recent years, with advanced oxidation
processes focused on mineralization as major target. Electrochemical remediation arose
as an interesting alternative with few reported protocols to date.

AB - The ionic content was examined in nine aqueous tea extracts in which time of boiling, acidification of the medium using lemon juice and way of preparation were observed as factors. Ion chromatography was used for determination of inorganic anion content, and data were processed using CANOCO program for multivariate analysis. The variations in ionic content were observed among different tea samples. The highest concentrations of chloride, nitrate, phosphate, and sulphate ions were found in nettle, while the highest concentrations of fluorides were detected in elderflower tea infusion. The effect of boiling time (5, 10, and 20 min), acidification of the medium and different preparation procedure (boiling and cooling at room temperature) were statistically presented using principal component analysis. The examined factors did not have a significant effect on the ionic concentration in tea infusions.

AB - Energy is the main driver of economic growth and it is of vital significance for the modern socieity survival. Future economic growth is dependent of the long-term availability of energy from the sustainable and ecologicaly accepted sources. Microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a new approach to the wastewater treatment with the simulntanious energy production. MFC is an electrochemical device that uses bacteria to generate electricity from biodegradation of organic substrates. Bacteria obtain the energy required for metabolism by electron transfer from an electron donor, such as glucose or acetate, to an electron acceptor, such as oxygen. The application of a microbial fuel cell for the treatment of wastewater has many advantages: the process is clean, safe noise-free, the emissions are low, and the efficiency is high with direct energy production. The subject of this review paper is a detailed development of microbial fuel cells, working principle, types of used microorganisms, as well as potential application.
Prednosti korišćenja mikrobne gorinve ćelije u prečišćavanju otpadnih voda su sledeće: čist postupak, bezbedan i bez buke, niske emisije i visoka efikasnost uz direktnu proizvodnju energije.

AB - The standard technology of seed processing uses mainly chemical products. Recent researches showed that toxic materials from chemical fertilizers can be harmful to humans, animals and the environment. Currently the attention of researches is shifting away from chemical fertlizers and toward alternative that consumers perceive to be natural, Plant Growth Promoting bacteria (PGP). PGP bacteria could be a way to reduce chemical fertilizer doses. This was the reason to test the ability of Bacillus megaterium, Azotobacter chroococcum to produce hormone auxin (IAA). Bacterial strains were identified by PCR amplification and sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene. Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) was detected and quantified by MRM experiment. This study conducted that maize seed inoculation with IAA from species mentioned above showed positive effects. They had statistically significantly higher root and steam height compared to control seedlings. Bacterial strains tested in this study may be recommended as PGP (Plant Growth Promoting) bacteria, due to their positive effects and eventually can be used to reduce chemical fertilizers doses.

AB - A source of thermo-mineral water of Vranjska spa is of great importance for environmental protection of rural settlements. Wealthy mineral water composition and the temperature of 93°C are very suitable for the spa tourism development. Capacity of the water source allows appications in industry as well as in food production. Geographical position, developed road network, vicinity to the highway and consumers attainability allow economic development of Vranje region, to whom population from other regions gravitates. The location of the borehole for water exploitation is in the center of Vranjska spa, consisted of tertiary sediments of Vranjska basin. The presence of volcano-sedimentary rocks and deep rift structures indicate a potential perspective of the area as a geothermal energy source. Although the potential of Vranjska spa is still insufficiently exploited in this asspect due to the fact that the resources of fossil fuel are being rapidly depleted, this situation is going be changed in near future and therefore is the subject of our research.

AB - In terms of development of agriculture, industry and tourism, in the spatial planning the level of exploration of mineral resources and environmental protection in rural areas is of great importance. The area of Vranje tertiary basin, located in the western part of the Serbian-Macedonian massif was selected. It spreads on both sides of the South Morava river, from Vladicin Han at the North, via Vranje and Ristovac to Bujanovac at the South. The total length of the basin is about 30 km and the width varies from 10 to 17 km. The area located west of the Vranje basin belongs to the granodiorite massif of Bujanovac and on the east to grandiorite and quartz diorite massif of Surdulica, in which the wolfram ore, occurrences and deposits of lead zinc, copper, iron, phosphorites and in the basin radioactive anomalies are registered. Geological and structural characteristics of the terrain are of the important for the planning of industrial facilities, further geochemical composition is essential for the planning and agriculture development. For the tourism development, from the point of use for therapeutic purposes, balneological characteristics of the hot water are of the important. The research results will be presented on geochemical maps, tables and charts, with special emphasis on Vranjska spa and its importance in the development of health tourism in the region.

AB - In this paper, the experimental results of decolorization of the textile dye, Reactive black 5, using Advanced Oxidation Processes, AOPs, have been shown. The percentage of decolorization of Reactive black 5 dye is given as a function of absorbance vs exposure time of dye solutions to the different oxidation systems. The optimal conditions for the given systems were also examined in order to make the degradation more efficient.

cijanotoksina, metode njihove detekcije i metode uklanjanja.

AB - Based on the results of geological-geophysical surveys and structural drillings, the promising area was allocated, in terms of geothermal energy, which is important for the development of tourism, industrial and agricultural facilities in rural villages in Vojvodina. The exploration area includes the Southern edge of the Pannonian Basin. Small thickness of the earth's crust-lithosphere places the Pannonian basin, among the most promising geothermal areas in Europe. The use of renewable energy sources - geothermal energy is of the importantance, regarding to the reduction in reserve of fossil fuels and the impact of emissions on the global warming.
Among the main factors which are affecting the formal assessment of the potential for geothermal energy are low competitive prices of fossil fuels, inadequate legislation and a lack of finance.

AB - Background/Aim. The northern part of Kosovo was one of the largest lead and zinc production industries in Europe. Special attention has been paid to the landfill sites of these metals remained after past industrial activities. The inhabitants of Roma camps in this area are collecting led waste they process by crushing and melting in their shacks in primitively organized working environments. Because of all the aforementioned it was necessary to examine the concentration of blood lead level (BLL) in the children aged less than 6 years inhabiting this area, especially taking care of blood analysis of children living in Roma camps. Methods. The study was conducted in the municipality of Leposavić, Province Kosovo and Metohija, Serbia. Totally 78 subjects participated in the study. All the subjects were divided into two groups: the group I consisting of 42 children who lived in the Romas camp, and the group II with 36 children from a city kindergarten. Based on the mathematical model WRPLOT we found out that both groups of patients were in the low risk zone for industrial contamination exposure. Blood analysis was done according to the protocol provided by ESA Lead Care. Results. The average age of participants in the study was 4.60 ± 1.63 years. The mean BBL in the children from the group 1 was 19.11 µg/dL and from the group 2 4.87 µg/dL. There was a statistically significant difference in the mean values of BBL between the groups (U = 39, p LT 0.001). All of the children from the group 1 had BBL greater than 5 µg/dL in comparison to 38.9% of the children from the group 2 (χ2 = 35.75, p LT 0.001). Conclusion. Although both groups were located outside the zone of direct spread of pollution, the results indicate high concentrations of lead in blood of all the examined children. The concentration was higher in the children who lived in the area in which illegal processing of lead waste took place.

AB - The concentrations of iron, zinc, manganese, copper, chromium, nickel, lead, arsenic, and cadmium were determined using flame and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry in nine herbal tea samples. Hawthorn, yarrow, elderflower, and bearberry are herbal teas for which the metal content has been rarely determined. The concentration of cadmium in St John’s wort exceeded the maximum permissible limit of 0.3 mg/kg. The metals were also determined in aqueous extracts following 5, 10, and 20 min of boiling and using different preparations, including acidification with lemon juice. The influence of these factors on metal release was demonstrated using multivariate analyses by redundancy analysis and principal component analysis. The metal release was not considerably affected by the boiling time, while the acidity of the medium was generally positively correlated. For the infusions, arsenic was detected only in acidified mint tea. The extraction efficiencies of metals were determined and classified as highly, moderately, and poorly extractable, with chromium showing largest variations.

AB - In the phase of regional semi-detail and detail geochemical researches of nuclear and
other mineral raw materials, lithogeochemical, hydrogeochemical, metalometric and
atmogeochemical prospection were applied. In samples of different geochemical
environments, a special attention was given to gammaspectrometrical researches of rock
and stream sediments samples of U238, Th232, K40, in water, U, Ra, Rn, and Rn in air and
other toxic elements.
Depending on how much the area is explored and in accordance with geological,
structural and metallogenic characteristics of the terrain, data base of laboratory testing
has been formed. Concentrations of radioactive and other elements were determined and
presented in geochemical maps, in different ratios. Geochemical data base shown in
maps is basis for exploration of anthropogenic influence and ambient degradation in
living environment of rural settlements. Data integration in ecological informational
system of certain regions and wider, provides us basis for identification of
geopathogenic zones of the influence of natural radionuclides and other toxic elements
on living environment.
Research results of selected regions and locations in Serbia have been shown in

AB - The impact assessment of the air pollution on the quality of the environment shall be based on the concentration of pollutants in the air. The concentration of pollutants such as soot, sulfur dioxide and particulate matter are determined by continuous monitoring and proper selection of appropriate locations for sampling.
These concentrations are determined in accordance with current legislation and sampling points are selected in accordance with the morphological and hydrological characteristics of the terrain and the wind rose. Development of a strategy on the environmental quality assessment when it comes to air pollution, in addition to the concentration of pollutants is necessary to be thoroughly examined all the factors that affect air quality. Areas with several forms of contamination, from which a strategy of environmental assessment can be estimated, are rarely found in practise.
For these reasons, the selected area of Lazarevac (central Serbia) which is specific in terms of air quality was selected, since in this region the power generating and industrial plants are located. In addition to contamination from industry, this area is characterized by the pollution from soot during the heating season due to emissions from individual heating and domestic funances, but also by the pollution from traffic. Tests were carried out on an annual basis, in winter and summer period. Based on the statistical analysis of the results their impact on the environment was estimated.
