AB  - Single crystal samples of lead telluride doped with cerium were made using the Bridgman method. Far infrared reflectivity spectra in the temperature range from 10 to 300 K are presented. The experimental data were numerically analyzed using a fitting procedure based on the plasmon–phonon interaction model and optical parameters were determined. Two additional local modes were observed at about 138 and 337 cm−1. The origin of these local vibrational impurity modes was discussed.

AB  - Thermal and electron transport properties of single crystal NiO were determined using the photoacoustic technique. NiO single crystals were prepared using the Verneuil method and were easily cleaved parallel to the (100) plane. All samples were of the p type. Atomic force microscopy images of cleaved NiO samples were made enabling a view of steps along the (001) direction and terraces, which were between 20 nm and 100 nm thick.

AB  - The contribution of free carrier transport processes to the photoacoustic effect in doped AIVBVI compounds was investigated using the photoacoustic (PA) frequency modulated transmission technique as a valuable tool in the study of thermal and carrier transport processes in semiconductors. The PA signals were measured and analyzed as a function of the modulation frequency in a specially constructed PA cell. The multiparametric fitting procedure was used to obtain some thermal and electronic transport parameters of doped and pure AIVBVI compounds.

AB  - Thermal diffusivity and electric transport properties of fourteen years old superconducting YBa2Cu3O7-x pellets were obtained using the photoacoustic transmission technique and then compared with freshly made superconducting samples. The theoretical model for photoacoustic (PA) detection configuration is given. The measured amplitude and phase PA signals, as a function of the modulation frequency, were numerically analyzed. The thermal diffusivity, the coefficient of the carrier diffusion, optical absorption coefficient and the excess carrier lifetime were calculated. The thermal diffusivity of freshly produced samples decreased, after ageing, from about 1.3·10-6 to about 6.1·10-7 m2/s.

AB  - Single crystal PtSb2 ingots were synthesized using the Bridgman technique. Electronic transport properties and thermal diffusivity of PtSb2 sample were determined using the photoacoustic (PA) method with transmission detection configuration. The excess carrier lifetime, the recombination velocity and thermal diffusivity were determined by comparing the experimental results and theoretical photoacoustic signals.
