The influence of the heat-treatment regime on a fracture surface of Nickel-based supperalloys

AB  - Nickel-based superalloys are distinguished from other materials by their excellent mechanical and physical properties. As they are used at high temperatures and pressures, as well as in aggressive environments, their characteristics need constant improvement. An adequate choice of their chemical composition and the heat-treatment regime contributes to the improvement of the chemical, physical and mechanical properties of these nickel-based superalloy materials. During the heat treatments of the
superalloys Nimonic 263 and Hastelloy S some changes in their microstructures were observed. In this paper the changes in the microstructures after various regimes of the heat treatment were analysed on the fractured surfaces. The fractured surfaces were observed using light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS).
AB  - Superzlitine na osnovi niklja se razlikujejo od drugih materialov zaradi svojih odličnih mehanskih in fizikalnih lastnosti. Ker se
jih uporablja pri visokih temperaturah in tlakih ter v agresivnem okolju, je potrebno stalno izboljševati njihove lastnosti.
Primerna izbira kemijske sestave in načina toplotne obdelave prispevata k izbolj{anju kemijskih, fizikalnih in mehanskih
lastnosti superzlitine na osnovi niklja. Med toplotno obdelavo superzlitine Nimonic 263 in Hastelloy S se opazijo spremembe v
mikrostrukturi. V tem članku so analizirane spremembe mikrostrukture na prelomnih površinah po različnih toplotnih
obdelavah. Površina prelomov je bila opazovana s svetlobno mikroskopijo, vrstično elektronsko mikroskopijo (SEM) in rentgensko disperzijsko spektroskopijo (EDS).

AB  - Nickel and cobalt-base superalloys are widely used in many military and commercial aircraft turbine engines for vanes and other high temperature structural components, owing to their good mechanical properties stress and excellent hot corrosion resistance after prolonged exposure. Cobalt-base alloys, unlike nickel base superalloys, are not strengthened by a coherant, ordered precipitate. The presence of carbide phase has long been recognized as an important strengthening mechanism in cobalt-base superalloys. Importance of Alloying elements during laser processing of high-temperature materials

AB  - The materials with high-temperature capability consist alloying elements added to improve mechanical and physical properties of material. The investigation was carried out on high-temperature materials with different chemical compositions. The yield strength, tensile strength and elongation were determined by tensile strength tests. The samples were exposed to ruby laser beam with following characteristics: wavelenght of 694.3 nm, pulse duration of 30 ns, laser pulse energy of 1J. The dameges arisen by interaction of ruby laser beam with high-temperature materials were analyzed by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an energy-dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDS). In this paper, the effect of Nb and Cr to the microstractural changes arrisen by ruby laser beam action was discused, with the aim to determine the optimal regime that provides good chemical and mechanical properties of researched superalloys.
