AB - Microemulsion systems with water, toluene and nonionic surfactants are interesting for application due to the excellent solvent properties of aromatic hydrocarbons. In this study, the pseudo-binary phase diagram (“fish-diagram”) of such a ternary system was investigated using a branched technical alkyl polyethoxylate. Lutensol ON 50 (i-C10E5) was considered a suitable surfactant. The system with technical branched i-C10E5 exhibits very long, and for compositions near optimum solubilization, i.e., the minimum content of surfactant needed for a bicontinuous microemulsion, extremely long times for equilibration. In addition to visual observation, qualitative measurements of turbidity were performed with a UV-Vis spectrometer for characterizing the behavior of this unusually sluggish system. Isothermal phase diagrams at 20, 25 and 30 °C yielded inconsistent results after the change of temperature and the application of mechanical stress for different treatment of the samples. Ternary mixtures of water, toluene, and lutensol ON 50 seem to form long-living metastable states. The sluggishness and the ambiguous phase behavior of the system are discussed. Inconsistent results are attributed to the slow kinetics of the formation and destruction of liquid crystals and the ability of the system to form mini- -emulsions within an unusual concentration range.
Trokomponentna smeša vode, toluena i Lutensol ON 50 formira dugoživeća metastabilna stanja. Diskutovana je sporost i dvosmislenost ponašanja ovakvog sistema. Nekonzistentni rezultati su pripisani sporoj kinetici formiranja i razlaganja tečnih kristala, kao i sposobnosti sistema da formira mini mikroemulzije unutar neuobičajenog opsega koncentracija.

types of substrate (stone surfaces, sand, mud, fi lamentous algae and submerged mosses)
from the Dojkinci River. During the research period, 124 taxa were determined within 43
genera. Among numerous common diatoms we recorded three taxa for the fi rst time in
Serbia: Brachysira intermedia (Øst.) Lange-Bertalot, Chamaepinnularia mediocris (Krass.)
Lange-Bertalot and Navicula tridentula Krass. Also, we observed 21 taxa which are rarely
recorded taxa for Serbia. The most interesting was Diatomella balfouriana Grevill. that
was previously known only from the River Tisa near Titel. In the studied material, it was

In total 18 Eunotia taxa have been observed, among which three are recorded for the first time in
Serbia (Eunotia circumborealis, E. paludosa and E. boreoalpina) and six are rarely recorded taxa for
the Serbian diatom flora (E. diodon, E. exigua, E. praerupta, E. subherkiniensis, E. tetraodon and E.

taxon, as well as distribution, locality, altitude, substrate and physico-chemical parameters of water

AB - The Dojkinci River belongs to the Nature Park „Stara planina“, Eastern Serbia. The river has never been investigated by algologists. Diatom samples were collected during July 2010 on 15 localities from different types of substrate including stone surfaces, sand, mud, filamentous algae and submerged mosses. In the laboratory, samples were cleaned by standard cold acid method, and permanent slides were observed by light microscope.
During the investigated period, a total of 124 taxa were determined within 43 genera. Among numerous common diatoms we recorded three taxa for the first time in Serbia: Brachysira intermedia (Øst.) Lange-Bertalot, Chamaepinnularia mediocris (Krass.) Lange-Bertalot and Navicula tridentula Krass.. Also, we observed 21 taxa which are rarely recorded taxa for Serbia. The most interesting was Diatomella balfouriana Grevill. In Serbia, it was known only from the River Tisa near Titel (Szabados 1966). In the studied material, it was identified only in samples collected from the surface of rocks at the third locality. We observed it in mass, together with Tetracyclus rupestris (Braun) Grun. Their morphology, distribution and ecology is presented in this paper.
The objective of this investigation is to show that our knowledge of the diatom flora of Serbia is very poor despite the growing efforts in the immediate past. Evaluation of the floristic richness of diatoms in the river is a necessary, further step. These new information increases our knowledge of the river system, which is important for further prediction of diatoms as bioindicators, and monitoring programs.

abstract = "The Dojkinci River belongs to the Nature Park „Stara planina“, Eastern Serbia.
