The adsorption of nicotine from aqueous solutions was performed on natural
and acid-activated Wyoming montmorillonite. The adsorption experiments
showed that acid-activation increases adsorption capacity of
montmorillonites toward nicotine molecules. The pseudo-first and pseudosecond
order kinetics models were tested. The nicotine adsorption was well
represented by the pseudo-second-order kinetics model for both
montmorillonite samples.
