Synthesis and characterization of nickel zinc ferrofluids

Nickel zinc ferrite nanoparticles NixZn(1-x)Fe2O4 (x = 0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1) have been synthesized by thermal decomposition method using acetylacetonate complexes as precursors. A novel dispersion method using starch as ferrite coatings is proposed. The synthesized nanoparticles (coated and uncoated) were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) which indicated pure phase spinel forms. The lattice parameter increases with the increase in concentration of nickel.
